And I respect what Patterson has built, clearly whatever he's doing works. But I can't help but see him constantly yelling at his players, etc. Why the eff would anyone want to play for someone like that? Eff that.

They want to play for him because he wins and develops his players. He's their coach not their BFF.

Friend of mine started multiple years for GP at TCU — he said he’s a jerk and he’s not close with him but that he’s a helluva coach who gets the most out of his players.

Patterson shouldn't have done that. I know he's frustrated, but he should take the blame as the HC does, not pull a Leach and throw his own guy in front of a bus.

Agreed on that point.

Engel was also throwing GP under the bus for not recruiting SB. I don't think that is fair, because TCU was going after 1 year GTs so they could keep the young QB recruit in the class.

As far as "raining", the whole conference needed umbrellas (save for Rice) in those years. I believe he forgot that TCU was on probation, one of their coordinators had been dismissed for recruiting violations (we didn't call it raining back then) and was immediately hired by Baylor to informally be their recruiting coordinator! That's how wild the conference was.

There is something wrong at TCU, Gary is considered a good person, he is well liked in the coaching fraternity, but no head coach throws his offensive co-ordinator under the bus like that. Maybe the pressure to win has gotten to him. I know some of his kids have been in trouble off the field. But, something doesn't seem right.

I know he has the best defense in the nation---WELL DID! 41 points Gary, 41 points! You should have had your defensive co-ordinator up there also. Well I guess you did!

Didn't he do the Same to Doug Meacham the co-coordinator with Cumbie a few years back? Now he is at Kansas with White Hat (Led Miles.)

Was watching GP stalk the sideline with his towel and the poor sweat-towel girl following, when he all of a sudden wheeled around and just laid into some kid. I'm all for a coach getting in your face, motivating or even challenging a player. But his seems to quite easily slip into berating them. And the whole huddle on the field at halftime is just spectacle for the fans to see him "coaching 'em up!"

He is a complete tool, but a very high percentage of good coaches are complete tools. If we was with us and we had the success they had, we would all love his "passion".

You are correct about the past with Meacham. Apparently it is common for him to do this.
