We got to see Tre Siggers at North Texas — he had 100 yards against us a couple of years ago. He's a great 1-2 punch with Ulysses. He's not a real big guy — he's got a low center of gravity, he's difficult to tackle. He's a downhill runner, whereas Ulysses is more of a slasher. Tyler Lavine is kind of in that role as well.

On receivers:

"More of the same. Danny, last year, had just come to us from junior college and wasn't as consistent as you would like to see. He's gotten bigger, he's gotten stronger.

"We moved Rashee to the inside position, which is really good for him, because he'll get some good matchups. There's Reggie, and there's Grant Calcaterra ... our WR group compares with any group in the country."

"Richard Moore has been playing football for about 25 years ... I remember playing against him in high school ... his seventh year — don't ask me how, but they said he's eligible, and here he is."

On K Blake Mazza:
"The Lou Groza people thought he was pretty good. He hasn't missed a lot of field goals at Washington State. He's not a real big guy, but he's incredibly accurate, swings his leg the same way every time.

"Brendan (Hall) has a huge leg ... will handle kickoff duties for us, might punt some, and will probably kick some long field goals, as well"

("Ask the Coach")
Question: What do you think about the Alliance?
SD: It's the neighborhood kids standing up to the SEC, and maybe ESPN a little, too

We're in a very good league, which matches up very well when you look at what's important, and that's performance. I think the (AAC) is incredibly song. I think our top teams belong with anybody. All you have to do is look at least year's bowl game with Cincinnati and Georgia: Cincinnati belonged.

Question: Kate's brother coached Abilene Christian basketball team that beat Texas (he's now at UTEP)
Answer: Don't think that's not going to be told to our team this week. His teams play harder than any college basketball team you'll see.

On Abilene Christian:

Played 6 games last year

"There are some unknowns about playing them. We have some good tape from last season. They're very well-coached. Ton of respect for (ACU coach) and his program, and how fast that program has improved. They have a football team that plays really hard, knows what they're doing. They do a good job getting one of their better players on your players who can't cover them. They'll continue to get better."

"I tell our players all the time, it doesn't matter what your opponent does — it's really about you and what you do, how hard you play and if you do the things you have to do to win football games, protecting the ball and making explosive plays."

Guys who pump up teammates:

"It's always kind of fun to see who does. You have young guys who wake up one day and they're not young guys anymore. You look at Reggie Roberson. When we got him from West Virginia, there were times I wasn't sure he would make it. He did what everybody does, he adjusted, and has become one of the best leaders in our football program.

"I know Hayden (Howerton) will be excited, Reggie will be excited, Tanner will be excited.

"I think hiring Jim Leavitt will help. He just loves football, I think that will carry over to players. He's not afraid to go after a big play, he's not afraid to blitz on third down ... as a head coach, when you feel good about your defense — and I do mine — that helps you sleep at night."

Thanks PP, great recap. I caught the end and the Moore comment was hilarious. Great sense of humor from coach but also made me think about how Richard feels about it going into his 7th year.
