Re: AAC adding 6?Since most of the posters here are not on the BOT or big $$ boosters I wonder if it would do any good to start a "fire RGT and Hart' email campaign sent to the BOT or do something like an online petition to get their attention. We must take some kind of action if we want to remain as an up-and-coming fball program and be considered in the next wave of expansion (if there is one). Lowering our conference quality will likely hurt our chances for future consideration of moving to a major conference in which case it would be better to shut down our sports programs.
Re: AAC adding 6?You can see ESPN's hands all over this and hopefully it will benefit us. ESPN wanted the AAC to gut C-USA so they would disband. There are already reports that Marshall and Southern Mississippi are going to the Sun Belt.
The good part of this is that ESPN can now move some of the C-USA money over to the AAC. The TV contract will definitely go down, but maybe not as much as it would have been if C-USA didn't implode. Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!
Re: AAC adding 6?
Not bad. I like it!
Re: AAC adding 6?No real news here. Just rehashing the "plan" and suggestion that the MWC was considering UNT & UTSA as expansion candidates

Re: AAC adding 6?Let them have the denton community college. Not many of their fans traveled to Dallas this year. Who would expect them to travel to the west and far west for games? And likewise I doubt if west coast fans would travel to denton.
Re: AAC adding 6?It is now being reported that the yearly payouts to the existing 8 schools in the AAC will stay at the current level, roughly $7million per year. This will be accomplished from the exit fees and the agreement from the six incoming schools that they will take a smaller payout over the life of the current contract.
This is very good news and made possible by the likely dissolvement of C-USA. Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!
Re: AAC adding 6?Is Rick Hart running this? This is one of the most horrendous plans I've seen. you can say goodbye to SMU sports/recruits
Re: AAC adding 6?
The SunBelt has been coming on strong but is made up of a lot of schools in small towns which hurts their media appeal. That's why you are seeing their teams play on weeknights (following the MAC's lead) to get more attention. Might be a pretty good game tonight between Coastal Carolina and App State. Would not be at all surprised to see what's left of CUSA join forces with the SunBelt to form an 18 member conference so there could be pretty strong competition to determine which of the G4 will become the 6th strongest conference and send it's champion to an expanded D-I FBS playoff (if the originally proposed 12 team playoff ever materializes). Right now it's more important than ever for SMU to strive to become the "best of the rest" outside of the P5 conferences. That's going to be best path to an expanded playoff vs being a middle of the pack program in a P5 conference. Of course, financially it remains the goal to gain a P5 invitation as there may never be equity in media revenue between the weakest P5 and best G4 conferences.

Not bad. I like it![/quote] Like the sign. Just an idea but would it be possible for all of the blvd. spaces to display a very large copy of this sign to attract attention to the incompetence of RGT and little rickey at the game tomorrow night? More than just the posters on PF need to be made aware of our pending relegation to becoming a conference barely above DII.
Re: AAC adding 6?Thamel reporting the Sunbelt is looking to add 4: Marshall, So Miss, ODU and JMU while CUSA is looking at Liberty and JMU.
Re: AAC adding 6?
Power struggle to survive. Just think of what the remaining CUSA schools are saying about their commish!
