I hope we can keep Sonny Dykes at SMU, but if that is not possible, I would gladly take Gary Patterson at SMU.

I'm guessing Patterson is burned out or something. I don't think the loon we see on social media today is the coach of 20 years ago.

No Patterson. He did well at TCU, but he isn't a good fit here. Why hire someone who's had so much animosity toward us over the years? I hope Sonny Dykes stays here. I hope he has more integrity than Chad Morris. Yes, it's tempting to go to a better conference, play for a stadium filled with fans every weekend. What happens to the huge SMU/Dallas marketing? What happens to all the players Sonny has recruited to come here? What would Rasheed Rice do? We all saw his reaction when we beat TCU. Y'all are nuts thinking Patterson would be a good fit here. Now this is a huge distraction for everyone for the rest of the season. This is all the more reason for Hart and Turner to pump up theie petitiong efforts toward the Pac 12 or even the ACC.

IMO SD leaving would destroy a lot of progress that has been made in both marketing and recruiting. Plus losing some of the better assistant coaches who would be hard to replace as well.

again, this falls on our mental hernia of an AD and his lack of action in the past is exactly why we are now in cusa 3.0

I also heard he's on Virginia Tech's list if they want a new coach.

If you can win at TCU you can win at SMU. He would be the same coach for us as he was for them. Simply this time he would be complaining about TCU and praising SMU. I don't see anything wrong with that and it wouldn't be the first time we hired one of their former HC's. It worked out phenomenally the last time we did it.

What other former TCU HC have we hired. My history only goes back into the late 70s - so it must predate that.

Matty Bell coached at TCU from 1923-1928 and then at SMU from 1935 to 1941 and 1945 to 1949. He won a National Championship in 1935.

Matty Bell was head football coach at TCU and also head basketball coach for 6 seasons. Had a decent undefeated conference championship at SMU and a Rose Bowl appearance vs Stanford. (but that was about 50 years before "the late 70s)

I spent a few minutes on the Killer Frogs and Mean Green forums just to take a pulse on their perspectives on the coaching situations. The general consensus seems to be that TCU fans don't think Sonny has done enough to deserve a job like the TCU head coaching job, but UNT would take Sonny or Gary in a heartbeat. They are so fed up with Littrell, that almost anyone sounds good to them right now. Is Sonny still in the mix for Tech? For what it's worth................

I hope we keep Sonny, but even in the face of the recent improvements one could certainly argue that he really should not be that hot of a commodity until he plays in/wins a conference championship and/or wins a meaningful bowl game, neither of which has been done so far.

TCU folks think more highly of themselves and their program's "worthiness" than even SMU fans think about our program

Maybe you're right that there's something going on that we don't know about. If it's burnout, walk away from the game for a year.

The fact that he quit and wouldn't finish the season with the players he recruited says a lot. I would think that would be a red flag to anyone thinking of hiring him.
