... especially on the road. I know it's not like we're going to Columbus or Tuscaloosa, but that's a huge number for an opener on the road.

Yyyyyyeah. :? It's hard to overstate just how bad Nevada's offense has been the last two years. Hence, 24.5-point spread. After being spoiled with great QBs and 1,000-yard rushers for so long, we're famished for both at the moment.

If there's one big thing in Nevada's favor for this game (I'm not convinced the altitude will amount to much, but we'll see), it's the fact that SMU won't have much useful film to prep for whatever schemes and game plan Coach Choate comes up with. He wants to be run-focused on offense (his teams at Montana State were roughly two thirds runs and one third passes), and their best chance at success will be to keep SMU off the field as long as they can, get a turnover here and there, and just give the crowd something to be excited about as the game goes on.

Do you have any links to coaches and player interviews during camp?

The majority of those will be coming from Nevada Sports Net, a local sports channel focused primarily on the Wolf Pack:

Thanks, I've seen this channel, I was thinking there was an active message board as well.

That would be our 247Sports site: https://247sports.com/college/nevada/bo ... um-102569/

Do we have a sense for how many Mustang fans are attending yet?

Hard to say. The date isn't bad but I sense many folks are aiming for the conference road games.

I'll be driving up on game day. What's the parking situation at the stadium?

Game is now 8:00 pm for those of us on the east coast. I see that FSU kicks off the season with a game against Ga Tech at noon eastern time so I will have to check out at least some of that game as well. Only ONE WEEK away now folks!

FSU-Ga Tech is the matchup this year in the annual Dublin game. Would be fun if SMU ever plays in that one.

Most of the lots around the stadium require a parking pass, but single game passes aren’t really a thing unless you start looking on the secondary market for people selling their own. The two free lots are the parking structure next to the student fitness center on North Virginia Street, and the lot between the School of Medicine and North McCarran Boulevard. Failing that, the ride share apps will usually drop you off in front of Lawlor Events Center and the south entrance.

Hope you have a good time at the game, based on the spread and what's expected of us you probably will . I have lots of family in Elk Grove, nice area and not too bad of a drive to get to Reno.

This is a pretty rough map, but you can park free in any of the yellow lots. The Whalen garage is most convenient, and if the game is a blowout and you leave at the end it shouldn't be too much of a hassle getting out.

I usually go for that Northeast lot just off Enterprise Road (You could put 2667 Enterprise Rd, Reno, NV 89512 in your GPS). It's a little easier to get out of after the game, plus you get to walk through the tailgating areas on the way to the stadium.

FYI, they're also offering a Beer Tasting event before the game if you're into it:

Good luck to y'all this year (outside of this game haha). SMU is the envy of the former G5, and I hope you're able to have a successful first year in the ACC.

I'm still haunted by our Hawai'i Bowl debacle against you guys. I remember you did the same thing to Fresno a couple years later.

I was going to update my prior post with a more accurate parking map, but NWPF beat me to it by mere minutes!

It's game week, and even with no idea what to expect, I'm excited to finally see this new era get under way. A few restaurant recommendations for those of you attending:

Breakfast ~ Two Chicks in midtown (modern fare) or Peg's downtown (classic diner fare)
BBQ ~ Carolina Kitchen & BBQ in Sparks, Butcher's Kitchen & Char-B-Q in south Reno, or Brothers BBQ in midtown (my wife and I had CK cater our wedding reception last month, and they were a big hit with our guests)
Pizza ~ R Town across from the Atlantis (if you visit only one restaurant while you're in town, make it this one) or Noble Pie in midtown (good pizza in its own right, but the real star is the hot wings, which are consistently voted the best in the city)
Mexican ~ Carlillo's Cocina in Sparks (very small with odd hours, but fantastic food) or Tacos Los Campesinos in Reno (my wife and I's go-to Mexican place)
Burgers ~ Archie's across from the stadium, Beefy's in midtown, or Royce Burger Bar near downtown (hole in the wall bar that low-key serves fantastic burgers and fries)
Breweries ~ Revision in Sparks (lots of IPAs), IMBIB in Reno (great sour and barrel-aged beers), Schussboom in south Reno (bit of everything, along with pizzas, wings and sandwiches), or Pigeon Head near downtown (mainly lagers)
Bars ~ Red's Little Waldorf Saloon across from the stadium ("the Wal" to locals, the main pre- and postgame hangout) or Beer NV in south Reno (50+ different beers from around the world on draft)

It's been a few years since I've driven to Reno, but I'm looking forward to it Saturday.

How much do they charge to park in the garage?

Thanks.

Yes, that ended a long bowl drought for SMU and we were thrilled with the result.
