Re: Thoughts on the Cal gamePeruna's law is in full force this week.
Re: Thoughts on the Cal gameJason,
To begin, thank you your insightful commentary every week. You are a treasure and much appreciated. I respectfully disagree because if we lose and we're within arms length of other teams they will pick them first. Brands matter, even if they deny they consider it. Remember that selection Sunday during the Larry Brown era? Remember last year and our bowl game. Now, youll say Liberty is a brand? No. I'm saying they decided to have one step child allowed to the party because there was only room for one because they had to accommodate the big brands. As was said earlier, let see on Tuesday. If we don't move up even one position, get worried. Or we just beat the trap out of Clemson. And I suspect we're going to do exactly that!!
Re: Thoughts on the Cal game
They have also said it depends on how competitive those games are.
Re: Thoughts on the Cal gameHonestly, Clemson is not that great. I think Louisville and maybe the current version of BC (with QB upgrade) are both better than the current version of Clemson. We beat both of those teams. As someone else pointed out in another thread, we played better than Clemson against our 5 common opponents. So we should be able to beat them, and if we don't, we really don't deserve to be in the playoffs.
Just like the last 8 games we have played, all we have to do is win. So let's just keep doing what we have been doing.
Re: Thoughts on the Cal gameIn the words of Al Davis, Just Win Baby! Can't wait for the game in Charlotte.
#Beat Clemson
Re: Thoughts on the Cal gameIt's interesting, the Clemson message boards aren't that optimistic, all things considered. And frankly, if we use the transitive property of common opponents, we did a lot better against common opponents than the Tigers did.
C'monnnnn Ponies!
Re: Thoughts on the Cal game
Miami should be optimistic. I think it's very likely they can avoid taking a loss on Saturday. If you mean that they are "optimistic" that Clemson will win, well...they are bitter about not making it and watching so many of their former players get to the championship game on our roster rankles them, I'm sure. They will really not like seeing us win.
Re: Thoughts on the Cal game
I think we can use the transitive property of common opponents when we have FIVE. That's a fairly large sample size in when it comes to college football. And yeah, get the same vibe from Clemson. Also they are PISSED that they haven't won a championship since 2018! I guess success is subjective.
Re: Thoughts on the Cal game
Miami's ONLY shot at getting in is if we win. Even then it's a long shot because they will be "competing" (i.e., competing within the imaginations of 13 committee members) with Bama for that final spot. But if we lose, they are competing with Bama AND US for that final spot, and they have almost ZERO chance of getting chosen over us for that final spot. But if we win the ACCCG, they at least have a better chance. So if they are smart (???), they will be rooting for us, as will Bama.
