Would love to see us schedule UTSA in 4 or 5 years for my own selfish reasons. They should be FBS by then. Next year will be their first year, but they have an aggressive plan to be ready for FBS within 5 years. They hired Larry Cocker and there is some nice talent down here in SA. I doubt we will hold A & M, so UTSA could be a could filler.

Good thing SMU didn't hire Larry Cocker back in the day or it would keep showing up as Cocker.

I think that your OOC schedule is probably going to be in flux for awhile due to conference realignment. Some of the B12 schools that have you scheduled will have to drop you as they are going from 4 non-conference games to 3 (that will likely affect our schedule as well). Not to mention, as we just saw last month, the realignment wave is only now drifting down to the non-qualifying conferences. I imagine that by the time the SMU/UNT series is renewed, it will be a conference matchup.

No way in hell we end up in the same conference as North Texas State Teachers College.

According to the Waco Herald-Tribune, Baylor has dropped SMU from next year's schedule.

Clever. I see what you have done there. You have taken our humble roots and insinuated that we can never become more than that. Quite humorous. Completely ignorant and misguided, but I applaud your effort at levity.

To the contrary, after the MWC raids C-USA for UTEP and Cougar High and the Big East grabs Memphis - where do you think that C-USA will come a-calling?!? Hmmmm.... the only available D-1 school in their geographic footprint with 30K+ students and brand new facilities?????

Rest assured, you will once again have a conference rival a mere 30 miles away, just to the north as opposed to west.

Maybe we can use the TCU strategy and put an FCS team in there since we don't play one in 2011.

Be nice to start to the season off with a win in 2011.

I hope we don't go the FCS route.
Hopefully we can find a mid to low tier BCS school out there needing to pick up a game, but that seems unlikely.

I would imagine the other big 12 schools will be dropping teams also. Find out who is being dropped and pick one of them up. I would bet there is at least one decent team to pick out of the bunch.

Once more, I do not believe that NT was blackballed by SMU. I don't think SMU has enough stroke to blackball anyone.

None of us do. It's a shot across the bow that NTSU can't sack up and climb out of the dungeon that is the gutter of CFB.
