First of all, excellent half time show. Second, the NTSU band looked liked a high school band with flags, corp junk marching, and of course the drill team number. Awful.
What we have is cool, we just need more of it. Great job Mustang Band.
And, Diamond M is correct about Bama's band. They were even miced in Legion Field, too. I remember - geez I'm getting OLD!
It's time to create a band, cheer, Peruna handlers and over all gameday presentation tab.
4th quarter was great last night!!!

Old location: no complaints about hearing students or band, but wishes there were more of them.
New location: suddenly "bodies are absorbing the sound," microphones aren't turned up fully, or slight angling tweaks pointing the horns more towards the 50 necessary to explain away why sitting our band in the least acoustically optimal location in the stadium is a good idea. There is a reason we stuck opposing bands in that corner for so long -- it wasn't to shower our fans with their noise, it was because it can take 150 member bands and make them sound like 40 member bands for more than half of the west-side.
And there is a "home side" and a "visitor's side". Perhaps not in name but very clearly defined by increased ticket prices and minimum Mustang Club donations. Don't.be.ridiculous.

NTSU also had what, 13 xylophones? Give me a break... I thought the SMU halftime was lame. Not so much in content (although I really don't like when they mail in a performance by not marching no matter what the occasion), but it seemed totally out of place after honoring some SMU teams of the past, and a long and frivolous performance by NTSU. It was so awkward when NTSU came back on the field while "America The Beautiful" was still in progress.

Um, there were problems hearing the Mustang Band in their old spot for people elsewhere in the stadium. You personally were sitting closer to them, and farther away from the opposing band. Now you are sitting closer to the opposing band and you're upset. I get it. But the "bodies absorb sound" thing applies no matter where they sit, it just depends on how many bodies are between you and them, and someone always gets the short end of the stick. I don't like the placement of the students (and band), for other reasons -- like the fact that when they are into the game and cheering (as they have been the last 2 games), it does not bleed over into the other SMU sections because there is a barrier of opposing fans. I love our grassy hill, but if we just did a lower bowl of bleachers in that end where students and band ALL sit, it would solve both the band and the continuity problem. But that is future talk.

I never once heard anyone complain about audio problems with the band previous. Piping music over the band maybe but not the fact that they couldn't hear them . And I've sat by smusic00 several times without noticed problems. It's not just a "me" issue...as evidenced by this 12 page thread. SMU band took over the worst real estate in the house...plain and simple, against evidenced by the fact that that was where we smushed the opposing band previously.
I agree the bodies absorbing the sound bit applies previous years and this years too so why is this year so significantly worse?
I remember very distinctly sitting on the south end 40 yard line when margus sacked the UTEP quarterback to qualify for our first bowl in 25 years. Their band was huge, across from us and playing very loud but I could hear our band loud and clear along with them . In addition, when I'm with my son on top of the hill the band still doesn't seem as loud as it did when it was in the north end . Admit it, it's worse for anyone not directly across from them.

Please center the band and students. Putting them in corner is stupid!
Also, the UNT band performance was much much too long.

IF there is no such thing, then why does the MC charge for the privilege of buying tickets in certain areas?

Well, they do the same for Moody. So, which is the home and visitors side there?
