Conference USA will beg us to join after what is left of the Mountain West and Big East takes the few decent teams in your conference. SMU is a 8,000 attendance school with zero TV appeal, crappy attendance and virtually no alumni interest - and little upside. I doubt that you have enough pull to blackball anyone. This little flurry of hope that Jones has brought you will fade after he gets tired of dealing with your [deleted] administration that is hell bent on keeping your program in the dregs. At least our school is actually motivated to improve and has tremendous upside. CUSA will come calling no doubt. The question is: would be any better after the inevitable raiding of Memphis, UTEP and Houston?!?
UNT: The premier research institution of North Texas and only university in D/FW with both medical and law schools! Leading the way for D/FW now and in the future!

We know its going to be tough, but we also have confidence that it is not impossible, either.
When is the last time that a top 5 team lost to an unranked team? It doesn't happen
Umm perhaps when ECU beat WVU a couple of years ago. Or Pitt beating WVU. I can't remember if TCU was ranked when it whupped OU that was back in 2005 when we beat TCU the week after.
WVU was #8...OU was #7 when we beat them, You were right about the Pitt game though....great job!

NTSU is a joke. Why do they need to open a Dallas campus, when its 30mins up the road? I guess the Dart doesn't have an express line from the Star of Hope to Denton.

That has described SMU forever. If that is the criteria, then why on earth does every NTSU idiot in the world blame SMU allegedly blackballing NTSU for its sorry lot in life? Because it never happened. NTSU's sorry lot in life is the result of never having had the merits to make it to a better conference on its own.

"It doesn't happen" ???? Ha. Ha ha. Ha ha ha. Doesn't happen, huh? Did you even read or comprehend the post to which you replied? Allow me to illuminate - in 2007, App State (Div 1-AA and totally unranked) beat Michigan (yup, No. 5) in the first game of the year. Kinda set the tone for that season, too. USC (ranked No. 2) lost to Stanford (unranked). Oregon (ranked no. 2) lost to Arizona (unranked). Hmmm...I'm sensing a trend. Ohio State (ranked No. 1) lost to Illinois (unranked). LSU (ranked No. 1) lost to Arkansas (unranked). Oklahoma (ranked No. 3) lost to Colorado (unranked). West Virginia (No. 2) lost to Pittsburgh (unranked). He!!uva a season for teams ranked in the top 5 playing unranked teams. Really. In 2008, No. 1 Southern Cal lost to Oregon State (unranked). No. 4 Florida lost to Ole Miss (unranked). So, let's stick to your mantra "It doesn't happen."... What about 2009? OU (ranked #1) lost to BYU (unranked), No. 5 Oklahoma State lost to Houston (unranked), No. 3 Southern Cal lost to Washington (unranked). Nope. Clearly, it doesn't happen. Oh, wait! Back in 1998, Temple (unranked) beat Virginia Tech (ranked No. 5). And in 1989, Tulsa (unranked) beat Texas A&M (then ranked #15). That ruined A&M's otherwise perfect season, much like what happened to TCU in 2005. I'll go find more if you're still having trouble understanding that Top 5 teams DO lose to unranked opponents. It DOES happen. It CAN happen. It WILL happen again. It MIGHT even happen this Friday in Ford Stadium. We'll all just have to wait and see. I'm looking forward to it, no matter the outcome. (Incidentally, if TCU "only" wins by a single point, as Patterson has stated is the goal, then I would expect that the Frogs will instantly drop in all the polls, and we SMU fans will eventually and gladly count it as a victory in that respect, once we've gotten over the shock of having come so, so close.)
Don't worry. Be Happy. Or not.

Ft Worth - Where you live when a diversified gene pool is not your style
TCU - Where you go when every other Texas school has told you you should have worked harder in high school
Horned Frog - not a frog or toad (but leave it to an institution of supossed higher learning to get that confused).... A tea-cup sized lizard that is preyed upon by just about every desert animal. ooooohhh scary. I think we picked one out of Peruna's hoof last time we played UTEP away.

Unlike many of my brethren, I do not believe that you had the ability to "blackball" us before and do not think that you did. No one particularly gives a crap what you think, nor should they.

Very good, a voice of reason among the cries of morons. You agree with me then that NTSU's inability to better its conference affiliation is the result of its own lack of merit and other ineptitude. Good man.

Then please, PLEASE, get off our board until you have something more interesting to talk about. It's hard taking you seriously when you come from an school academically inferior to almost all in Texas, no offense Texas Tech, AND a horrible football team. In the interests of local rivalries, I do think it is a good idea for SMU to play NTSU, Baylor, and TCU on a semi-regular basis. I didn't read enough of this thread to figure out how an NTSU poster even got involved, but do agree that things will be more interesting in the future. It's tough being the bottom feeder in a bottom feeder conference with a high school head coach and most of your starters lost for the year and no wins and..................................

Do you see why we don't have a school of education or one for nursing? Limits the number of Murses and PE teacher/coach types.
