So, basically what you're saying is, don't bother, we're comfortable with our ceiling of one day losing to the 5th best CUSA team in a shoddy third tier bowl in the 3rd week of December.

Not at all.

First, if you that the WAC will be able to maintain those bowl ties after the defections of Boise, Fresno, Nevada (and soon Hawaii) you are sniffing glue. Especially when you consider that their replacements are all FCS teams currently. They will be lucky to keep ONE bowl tie-in - not the Humanatarian either, that will drift away with Boise State.

The Sun Belt will benefit from this. The Sun Belt is far more attractive than the post-apocalypse WAC. Most of the "new" teams will need an exemption to even be able to join the conference because you are supposed to wait two years before you can join an FBS conference after moving up to FBS. If it is not granted, then the WAC will not be able to maintain a football schedule for two years. MMMMM... sounds great to bowl committees doesn't it?

So you are telling me that you do not believe in light of those potential ramifications that the WAC did not call NT, Louisiana-Lafayette. ULM, Arkansas State or any other program that could keep their conference at the minimum level necessary to avoid a hiatus in football while awaiting the arrival of four FCS teams (two of which just started football)? Of course they did! They were told no across the board. Who would sign up for that? Most of these "new" programs will be playing in stadia that are not 25,000 capacity. Ark State and NT have recently committed to upgrading facilities and investing in their programs. Troy and Lafayette already have done likewise. The SBC is relatively stable and its programs are committed to improvement. The WAC is lying on the ground from the second kick to the nuts received from the MWC in 15 years.

In short, some, probably most, of those bowls will sever their ties with the WAC and the SBC will likely benefit to some degree.

Now, I personally think that NMSU will be tapped to rejoin the SBC very soon... as soon as we move up to C-USA West. Holla!

Nice layout.

I think we need to play some better teams. Get noticed a little more.

I have to admit that the non-conference schedule thru 2018 is very good. It keeps things regionally nearby against quality teams, recreates much of the old SWC and should generate substantial fan interest. I love the Navy series and wish they would put Air Force or Army on the schedule. Not too sure I am excited about UNT and view that series as a loser situation.

our games with UNT have always been well attended and if the bring Jeff Bowers in, I expect to see an improved program within just a few years. I have no problem playing both TCU and UNT every year, as long as we have 2 other non-conference games

Since we seem to recruiting more on the west coast, it would be good to schedule some California, Oregon or Washington State schools to get additional exposure out West and for the potential votes if we are in the BCS races( wishful thinking). Games with two DFW Metroplex teams would not be so interesting to anyone around the country, although is less expensive on the budget.

If SMU got an invite to the MWC then this would take care of itself with games at Fresno St. and San Diego St. Reno and Vegas are also a short drive to California. It would make it a lot easier for Klemm to recruit California as well as give SMU much needed exposure on the west coast.

we arent going MWC - there is no reason to now. Its no better the CUSA. The only way we go west is if CUSA blows up.

Seems like most schools have a link on their main site for future schedules. Not SMU. Argh.

UNT is in a fantastic position to move out of the Sun Belt. I won't list the reasons why because it makes no difference to you people. Your elitism won't allow you to be objective.

The point writing this is not to refute your arguments. I already know that is a waste of time. It is so I can come back in a few years and quote this, while laughing at all of you for being too arrogant to be able to see whats coming. Good day.
