Sure, it would be a very good deal for SMU. No travel costs + the potential to sell more tickets than for any other game = very profitable for the school. For most SMU fans, zero travel costs.

Current players would probably have the same excitement and motivation as the team that played Army in the GJF Armed Forces Bowl on Mockingbird Lane.

CP hits the nail on the head. Get this year to 8 and 5 and round up another good recruiting class.
Guys, Chad is here and I'm glad he is.
Make that change of DC and get to work for a great year next year. Add a win and beat a really good team.
MAKE SMU GREAT AGAIN.

heard an interesting comment this morning regarding Sumlin getting the axe, and the Aggies playing their last game out for himt....

"1/3 of the players will be pumped because he is leaving, and they think they didn't get a fair shake. These are usually the guys that didn't have the talent to make plays continually. 1/3 will be indifferent, and just glad to be playing football on a Saturday. The other third will be pissed off because their coach is leaving and they want to make a statement about him by winning the game."

No matter what the outcome with Morris, I'll take those percentages.

52-14 Ponies, then on to a bowl.

Nah, that game was much different. Our HC was threatening to leave (for Maryland, I believe).

If you're the AAC admin, you probably just care about filling seats and don't care about matchups or rewards for players. Each bowl has swag bags anyway.

Full band isn't guaranteed to fly to Hawaii. Last time half got left out.

One could argue that's the current situation we are in today. Just replace Maryland with Arkansas, A&M, Mississippi, etc.

Think how much better things might be today if we would have let him walk.

That same Sporting News article has Wyoming v. UCLA in Frisco.

Isn't The American required to have one its bowl eligible teams in Frisco? I would think an SMU-UCLA matchup would be better than Wyoming.

If AAC secondary Bowls-jump our other Bowls-then maybe not. I believe the Liberty Bowl (think Memphis) has the right to select an AAC team for its Bowl every 2 or 3 years of its choosing. Not sure about the right of Independence Bowl to jump other Bowls in AAC lineup-but it is an AAC secondary affiliate. Both of these Bowls have primary affiliations with P5 conferences

DIdnt the whiny liberal baby nutjobs say that California public schools are not allowed to travel to Texas since they’re super tolerant... I don’t think they’re required to go so I don’t get the prediction.

While I love the idea of getting Birmingham bowl against Tech, I just don't see how we get that unless we opt out of Hawaii bowl. Like Stallion said, Houston or us would be the cheaper commute. Also Houston would probably get dips first. Our only hope is that have already played them and lost at home, so they might want to revenge rematch or they might say its boring to play the same team twice. Or one of the other AAC teams really really wants the Hawaii bowl.
