Exactly. That size doesn't bother me one bit.

Re:
i remember him. he was fun.
We generally either support or eat our starting quarterback. The problem is that Bennett has in the past said that Phillips would be a great starting quarterback. Eckart and Romo have been decent, but have run the position by committee. I think all of us want the quarterback who will give us the best chance to win. If Phillips doesn't get the weight work done, doesn't do the running, doesn't do the things needed to get him ready for the season, he'll have another short season because he will get injured. You can't survive in Division 1 football unless you're 110% in shape. If by the start of the season, he is in super shape and can do what Young did for Texas last year, I'd be a very happy camper.
I just want the best athlete who gives us the best shot at a win. What has not happended at SMU in a long time is that we have a choice - and assuming Phillips is/gets in shape we have one - I like Ekert, but you put him in the games Chris played in against the big nasties and I think the outcome is the same if not worse.
I think regardless of any of our opinions, the coaches want to win more then anyone, will know who the best athlete is, knows who can give us the best shot at a win, and that is who they will play. They actually know what they are doing, so I will wait and see who that is.
guys, the big difference between Chris and those guys mentioned in earlier posts is..... THEY CAN THROW. at 210 and in great shape CHRIS could not throw a lick. i can only imagine what it would be like now. PB tried to make him into the mold of some former kansas state QB's and he simply was not a fit. we are on the right track, let's stay on this course. i am glad his "injury" is healed. i am sure there is a place for him...but it ain't starting QB.
