I proposed a renewed Mustang Mania marketing format to some folks, mirroring the former program...it was met with a distinct yawn. 'Pony Up' is fine, but sounds like folks at a fund-raiser trying to get folks to give to the next SMU building campaign rather than a signature slogan/emblem.

I took out of the response (or lack thereof) as being a reaction to DP days...for those that were there at the time, nothing could be further from the truth. Russ Potts' ideas were instituted before Meyer's success on the field had taken full effect, and the corner was fully turned.

For those folks that got part of the stash of retro stickers earlier this year, I have a vendor that has agreed to reproduce them if the legaleeze is satisfied. A VERY recognizable symbol for 50+ aged Dallasites, and one that I think would translate to today...but then again, that may be the reason I am a pastor instead of a marketing guru.

Isn't being a Pastor the ultimate marketing job? Great product but a hard sell much of the time. :)

we as fans can utilize social media to help promote the program. if you have a facebook or twitter account post news articles about SMU as your status or tweet them. It's the best way to get the word out about the "rebirth" of our program. We unfortunately aren't all famous, but we can do things like this that don't cost a penny. June even has a twitter.
