AD level and higher

I have seen this new concept of blaming people higher than Copeland lately. You can blame Turner all you want, but I have news for you: Turner ain't going nowhere unless it is his decision. If you take athletics out of the equation, I don't know how anybody can argue against Turner. He has raised ridiculous amounts of money and improved this schools institutions in nearly every way. He will soon embark on a centennial campaign where he will raise an even more ridiculous amount of cash. Arguing against Turner can only be the product of the most narrowminded kind of thinking.

That being said, of course we should hold Copeland responsible. But we should only hold Copeland responsible for the things he is responsible for. Some people blame him for the most ridiculous stuff and for things completely beyond his control. I believe Bennett will ultimately be successful, but bottom line if he isn't: I'll be damned if I will support Copeland selecting another football coach.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I didn't specifically blame turner only implied someone (or group) has the influence to change the way the athletic dept. is performing, and they need to do more with that influence. If Turner's job description was only to run the ad, then I would call him out.

The second half of that would be Cavan and Bennett and having to recruit to the WAC.

PK,

Bennett's worse recruiting year was last year...the FIRST year he could recruit under C-USA.

His worst recruiting year...by whose evaluation? Obviuosly we didn't get any national top 100's, but let's wait and see how these kids play before we write them off. I don't have all the answers...all I know is what I see and feel and the WAC had no traction here. C-USA may not either. When it is all said and done, our [deleted] record may be masking everything else. Only time will tell if C-USA is a good or bad deal for us.

This is not a new concept to blame Copeland. Many have been upset with his firing of coaches instead of stating publicly they don't have the tools to compete. I blame Turner for allowing this charade to go on. Copeland made a mistake in firing Rossley. He compounded the mistake by hiring Cavan. He then fired Cavan as if Cavan was to blame even though Cavan wasn't a good coach for a school like SMU that needs a passing minded coach. We have never been as big or deep as UT except during 1979-83. He has now hired a guy again who doesn't know a pass from a escalator. He acts like Bennett is getting something done while dminishing the competition we play hoping he will not be found out. Bennet is not the answer but I want him to stay until Copeland is fired which should be immediately. Turner is to blame for alowing Copeland to stay around this long. BTW- B'ball is no better.

How about offers they received from other schools...

Make fun of Rivals and Stallion all you want, but I suspect they base much of their opinion on offers received. And if I recall correctly, Rivals had us as ranked #81 and Stallion has called this the worst.

and btw, PK, NO WAY am I giving up on this class, I hope it is the BEST class ever, but at the same time I don't want to ignore the facts.

If they did, Vincent Chase and Richuel Massey would have been ranked much more highly than they were. Especially Chase -- he collected more and more offers, yet his stock slid (to what, 3 stars?). I firmly because it was because he lived up to his commitment to SMU.

Dang it... I am working the performance course program at HP this summer and I have noticed this kid (beast) and I have talked to him a little bit. That really stinks that he has committed to tech, smu really needs a kid like this. He is huge, a captain and a real good work ethic... Coaches keep going after this guy, you never what can happen next december and january when the big dogs start committing. But I think this kid is a big dog.
