I find it very hard to fathom, given this program's recent history, that some people believe scheduling a d-2 team means a win on the schedule.

None of the schools mentioned in this post are D-2. There is a huge difference between D-1AA in football and D-2. Both Texas State and Sam Houston are D-1 in all other sports except football where they are 1-AA. To show you the difference Texas State (when it was SWT) won back to back D-2 football national championships and was dominent in it's conference. It has taken us 20 years of playing in 1-AA to be playing for our first conference championship and hopefully getting into the playoffs. Hope that clarifies things a bit.

I would be very concerned about playing a AA school if I were you.
especially one in the Southland Conference.

Texas State CAN beat you, even without Barrick Nealy, (such will be the case in '07) and I'd put money on Sam Houston beating you too.

Yawn. 86% of the time I-A beats I-AA. Most of the I-AA wins are against provisional I-A teams like Florida Intl. and Florida Atlantic that are one or two years removed from I-AA themselves. Eliminate those, and it was about 96% of the time in 2004.

Yes it clarifies that you are a d-2 apologist who doesn't belong on the board with the big boys who follow Div-1, even if our team is a bad Div-1 team.

And just think I was going to wish you well when your basketball team comes in to San Marcos on December 1st to play us. Thanks for the warm welcome?!

huh?

what was 86% of time?

I'm just saying that no 1-A team should underestimate a 1-AA team. Especially in this case. If you guys wanna win, you're adding the wrong two 1-AA teams to your schedule. 1-AA teams on your schedule does not mean automatic win for you.

I guess our puny 1-AA, public school brains aren't developed enough to follow something as intricate as division 1 football. Everyone who follows football follows Div. 1 football.

Golly, we'd better leave before the big smart SMU kids outbrain us.

WTF?

You guys must really know what it's like "not to belong". You don't belong in Div. 1A. (Nor does UNT)

Listen, just because you are a d-2 follower, I don't think less of you. In fact, I don't think of you or d-2 at all.

My message was perfectly clear. OVer the last 10 years, when a IAA team plays a IA team, the IA team wins 86% of the time. If you eliminate IAA wins over teams that are in their first two years of IA competition, it goes up into the mid 90's.

I looked the numbers up. And seriously, with the exception of UC Davis over Stanford, I can't think of a single IAA team that beat a IA team this year. On line the only other one I could find was Northwestern State over Louisiana Monroe.

Believe me we will give your basketball team a warmer welcome than I have received here. Hope you have a good one JT and good luck against Cougar High this weekend. I also hope his comments don't reflect the majority of folks on this board, and JT you really should read my original post before you treat me the way you have. Have a wonderful day.

Sorry to offend, I was confusing you with that other d-2 @ss. Oh well, I get confused often about things I truly don't know anything about, like the lower NCAA divisions....

I can't wait to come home to Dallas and see SMU get stomped by Texas State in '07.

You guys sure are cocky for arguably the worst collegiate football team in the state.

For you guys to even imagine that you are "unbeatable" by a 1-AA team is ridiculous- especially since, well, you're SMU.

I'd rather follow good 1-AA football, than senselessly chatter about how bad we're gonna get beat next (this message board).

peace out
