Really, Phil certainly needs to do that huh? I bet you wished he missed the TCU game last year. No SMU fan wants to see Demyron made an example of. If you are really an SMU fan, going around calling yourself Ponysnob probably embarrasses SMU more than Demyron making a mistake.

No, I was very glad that he played against TCU last year.....I am not saying that he should be kicked off of the team, or anything of the sort, but Phil does need to send a message to the team, that behavior unbecoming to the university, will not be tolertated.

If underage drinking is embarassing to the university than we better expell about 80% of the school. This is no big deal. He can run some stairs. He can tell me about it if I see him at a bar, and buy him a beer.

Not sure that 80% of the school gets arrested for intoxication and then gets charged with resisting arrest and it certainly does not make the newspaper.

Bla bla bla. I'm not saying he shouldn't be punnished, but don't blow it out of porportion. He probably was just drunk and talked back to the cops. Happens all the time. Should we report player speeding tickets too?
Now if he was trying to beat up the cop or something, that is a different story.

I should have been arrested a dozen times while I was in school, I just got lucky and I tried to blend in while I was around cops. It didn't hurt that I had one of those firends that the cops just zeroed in on, the guy never said a word and just went about his business, but the cops always arrested him. Sad for him, good for me.

The only reason this makes PonyFans.com, much less the DMN, is because he's the most talented football player we have. He'll run, he'll sweat, he'll barf, he'll start against Texas Tech. If it got reported every time I drank too much (including before my 21st birthday .... and including a visit to the Crossbar Hilton), I'd have a scrapbook of newspaper clippings that looked like a text book. It happens. If it's John Q. Business school, instead of DeMyron Martin, this doesn't get mentioned anywhere.

Everybody hold on.......I hope the whole story will come out on this. DeMyron was defending a teamate along with other players that were present. He was the unfortunate one to get arrested.

Now THAT'S the kinda guy we need on the team. Not letting anyone on the team get pushed around.

a very good sign the team is getting better - trouble with the law. All the good teams have trouble with the law.

That type of thinking is surprising coming from you PonySnob....it is more akin to the mindset of the David Berst' of this world...
Let me get this straight....90%+ of a group are doing something, whether it be BCS cheating or college-age drinking, but let's make an example out of one poor schmuck.

Like I said earlier, I suspect DeMyron will have close encounter with the Ford Stadium steps. Up, down, up, down. Hurl. Up, down, up, down, up, down, hurl.

You mean like all the schools that cheat getting off scot-free and they make an example out of SMU?
That logic's tough to follow....

First, I have yet to see a link to anything here so it sounds like everything is speculation, at best.
Second, this is unfortunate, if true. It sounds like the kid got busted for being a college kid. It's not excusable, but understandable. Hope PB will handle this in a muture, constructive way that will help those involved learn and grow from this.

First of all, Demyron was not drunk. The reason why this issue is not being discussed is because DPD may have possibly made huge mistakes in arresting Demyron and the others. Neither of the players were intoxicated (the bouncers at the club confirmed this-according to the bouncers-non had any alcohol period). Neither of the 4 arrested were involved in a fight. Apparently, the arresting officers failed to investigate the entire incident and elected to arrest truly innocent players. Once DPD has thoroughly investigated the issue, the truth will be told. Demyron and the others are great kids-they did absolutely nothing wrong. I just hope this does not give Demyron and the others a false perception of law enforcement as a whole. Officers do make mistakes-they are human, the only difference is they wear a badge.
