One of the smartest people I knew in High School (Jesuit College Preparatory School in Dallas) scored pretty low on the SAT's and did not perform very well in school, but he was one smart mofo. He's now finishing a PhD in Chemistry and has a very promising career in the pharmaceutical industry.
Has there been a direct correlation between high scorers on this test and success in the NFL? I scored a 13/15 on the test that ESPN provided (which would be equivalent to a 43/50 - more than the Harvard grad listed on the first page). Does this mean I can lead the Cowboys to the Superbowl? Hardly.
That argument might work if he scored in the 15 to 20 range.
6 is Moron range and with all the intricacies of being an NFL QB...Yes it Matters...
I recommend everyone take the test. I had a perfect score...it wasn't that tough. That VY could only get 6 right....WOW...
And LF68, put down your orange-covered glasses for a moment...what if you couldn't even answer 2 of those ESPN questions correctly....that would be the rate VY scored.

SoCal Pony, it's already been reported that the '6' result was not correct. It was a leaked result that turned out to be false. He in fact scored a 16. While that may not be good enough to be say, AD at SMU , it's good enough to lead Texas to a National Championship and secure his place as a Top 5-10 pick.
The guy could be dumb as a stump, but as long as he performs on the field, that's all I care about. He wasn't recruited for his ability to dissect the humane genome, but to dissect pairs of linebackers.
I think people are making too big of a deal about this.

Problem fixed, he scored a 16.
I stand by my statement that if he scored a 6 THAT would have been a problem.
This from FoxSports
The test, which consists of 50 non-football related questions in 12 minutes, is designed to determine a prospect's ability to learn. A low score could dramatically impact a prospect's draft position; according to the report, no coach, scout or general manager surveyed could produce an example of a starting quarterback with a single-digit Wonderlic score.
LHF, we were are not talking simply single-digits, but a 6....anyway, as I said, problem solved, altough I do think your AD reference was funny.

If I'm good for anything, it's occasional comedic relief.

I've been out of town, so I'm just now hearing about this.
Has anyone given any thought to the possibility that Vince Young might have a learning difference?
He's a Longhorn, so it's hard to resist throwing a few jabs, but in all seriousness, the guy might have a learning difference... say, reading or math for instance, which would invalidate this test.
I wouldn't be surprised if he were getting assistance under ADA that is available at the university level for students with learning disabilities.
So don't be too quick to judge.

OK, a few things-
If Vince is on Forrest Gump's level, then remember Gump was pretty dang good on that football field as well.
Also, Vince's physical abilities are well documented. IF he doesn't pan out at QB, then slap him in a WR. It worked for Matt Jones last year.
One of my favorite quotes can be applied to Vince if he does in fact come out with the 6 score: "Never underestimate the genius of the uncluttered mind...."
I think the best spot for him is 3rd to Tennessee, where he gets to learn with McNair there, and oh yeah, that Norm Chow guy can develope a good QB.
And while I'm glad my team doesn't have to face Young again next year, he has established himself as a top notch college player, and no one can deny that. The NFL is all speculation at this point.

The way I heard it this morning on ESPN radio was that the original score was accurate, but Young basically didn't prepare for it (interesting, since it's widely assumed that all agents have copies of the test .... so "preparing" for it basically amounts to memorizing answers, or an open-book test). So he did score the 6, but that was credited to the fact that he's been on the awards banquet since the Rose Bowl. He RE-TOOK the test and got a 16 ....
I heard the same thing, on two different radio shows (one was probably the same report you heard).

You're right.
And supposedly he's going to take it again before the draft.

I guess you need a 13 or higher to win a Super Bowl.
