My guess is that the other players on the team would decide smoking pot just isn't worth it. And I'd tell the other players, if they want to follow him out the door, I'll sign the releases. Guess what, it would probably help recruiting because parents would be more inclined to send their kids to play for a coach who takes that attitude than a coach who has a bunch of dope smoking thugs on the team. And yes, when I was at SMU there were several guys on the team who knew the north end of a bong.

I agree. Back when I was in school (Rossley/Cavan), many smoked up. But many also preferred "other" recreational drugs because they left the body faster.

We'd all like to think its different now, but the percentages tell you its impossible.

Yeah, but this is a whole other ballpark. Being a guessing man, that's about $4000-$5000 worth of pot. I don't think this was just a recreational thing.

The guy has longhorn in his moniker - he does not have to guess about the price of pot.

It's not very hard to figure out the price of 4 lbs of pot if you went to college.

I wonder if he got the pot from a Longhorn booster. Here, I'll give you the stuff at a deep discount. You can resell it and keep the profits or maybe he just gave him the stuff to share with his teammates.

You have a promising career in stand-up comedy. No, not really.

According to an article in this morning's Austin Amercan Statesman ,the pot was in a "Big 12" tote bag in the backseat of Taylor's 1994 Tahoe, which was registered to Taylor and the father of the quarterback of his high school team. I find it interesting that the year model of his $35,00.00 auto is the same year he signed with UT. I am sure that is just a coincedence.

The article also said that Taylor and his friends crashed a graduation party and were asked to leave because they were offering to sell drugs to those in attendence.

If you can, check out Taylor's photo that was in the Austin paper this morning. That is certainly the type of young man I would want representing my alma mater. I am sure all the Longhorn fans are real proud of him.

He signed in 1994? or was the Tahoe a 2004 model?

Yeah, because you're a bastion of education, good will and grace; profoundly representing whatever university you attended (assuming you did).

I thought the NCAA had a five year rule??? But 12 years for a football player to matriculate through UT wouldn't surprise me.

It was a 2004 Tahoe - not a 1994 model as originally posted.

Hey, let us not forget the carload of UT players pulled over at night on
I-45 a couple-three years ago for creative driving. I believe a bit of weed was found and a malodorous fragrance wafted from the vehicle as pleasantries were exchanged with law enforcement.

Alas, the case was thrown out on a technicality - a little-known codicil, if you will, uncovered by the greatest legal minds money could buy, I'm sure.

If I recall, it turns out a blinker is not required to exit an interstate highway in Texas. So that mean ol' UT-hater cop had no right to stop those young men in the first place. Case closed. (I've always wondered what happens if a dead prostitute is in the back seat. Gotta let it go? Get over it? Help me out, legal guys.)

Why the heck is it registered to Taylor AND this other guy?
