While some of the gripes of this board were not addressed the selection of questions did not seem to just be softballs. They seemed of genuine interest and did include the DISD relations question. I will admit the answer to that was rather general though.

I don't see what's so secretive about this. These chats are set up to make the athletic program look good. Of course they're not going to answer jtstang's question about the investigation surrounding Coach Tubbs' dismissal. He's going to talk about season tickets, the upcoming football season, Coach Bennett, Coach Doherty, facilities upgrades, fund-raising, etc. He's going to be enthusiastic and optimistic. There's no way he'd tackle quesstions like that in this forum. Nor should he. I don't think the school is inclined to discuss anything about it until after the NCAA findings are released, and even then, I expect we'll never get an answer from the school -- there are too many positive things in the department that they'll focus on, instead.

Well, do you think it's right for them to ignore these issues? When is the last time you can recall a d-1 coach being fired for alleged violations when they were not made public concurrently?

I did.

I just hope these chats continue year-'round. Work in Schellas Hyndman, Steve Collins, Todd Selders, (non-revenue sport coaches), etc., too.
Is there a reason a player couldn't do something like this? When DeMyron Martin runs for 288 and five touchdowns in the opener, they could hold one with him, right -- sort of like a press conference for fans?

Yes: Which restaurant are you going to drown your sorrows at when the NCAA drops the hammer for burgers and Cheer? Please not the same one the burgers came from.

Folk. I think she is the love child of Sarah McLachlan and Melissa Ethridge. Not that such a thing is possible. Wait. Maybe it is. Forget I said anything.
