What was your '03 prediction?

I don't recall.

I hate it when anyone: a)bashes my team; or b)likes to belittle legitimate fans.

Having said that, by and large I like jtstang. He's witty, intelligent, insightful. And I even like his advice that we ought to underestimate the team so that when they outperform our expectations we'll be happy and suprised. But he takes it way overboard and is a basher. And he's got no problem selling his team upstream if the opportunity presents itself.

Of course, your initial sentiments are precisely correct, and in fact inarguable. And I do not even mind you saying I take things overboard or even calling me a "basher" (even though you stole that terminology from me). However, I honestly do not understand what you mean by the last sentence at all.

By the last sentence I mean to say that you lack loyalty.

Look, I'm well aware that I'm the Aggie guy who pulled the sword on the SMU cheerleader -- except that sides are reversed and I'm the one wearing the SMU sweater. In the past, I've been loyal to the point of blindness.

But I still submit we need more rah rah guys than bashers. An anachronistic point of view, perhaps, and unrealistic in today's day and age of disposable fandom.

Well if that's what you mean, you can kiss my @ss, sunshiner. I've been loyal to SMU since I was barely walking, the last twenty years of which time this administration and athletic department has done absolutely nothing, I mean NOTHING, to repay my loyalty, save for a couple of well-thought-out soccer homecoming games. In fact it is the lack of loyalty by ostriches like you with your head buried in the sand who are fine with the status quo which has allowed the suffering to continue for true fans like me to the point where we have nothing left to root for except the occasional last minute upset win over St. Valentine State school for the deaf. The fact is, they have done nothing for you either but you are just to stinking blind with sunshine to see it. So carry on with your rah-rahs, I don't begrudge you them, but don't mistake realism for lack of loyalty, you sunshine-loving, reality-rejecting, "loyalist" fan wannabe.

Whoa! Guess I hit a hot button.

When I sing "I give my heart to you, SMU, SMU" -- like I have ever since I could sing -- I haven't had in mind the administration, faculty or athletic department. I think of the students, here and gone. I think of those who have suited up, are current players, and will suit up for my beloved school. I think of those in the trenches, on the field, in the classroom who are trying to make SMU all that it has been and should be.

No one owes you anything pal. YOU OWE respect and honor to your school and you often fail in that demonstrably and publicly.

Look, sunshine, YOU don't get to decide who's loyal and who's not. Moreover, I have paid SMU what I owe in spades and keep coming back year after year for more of the same, and people on this board know me and can tell you that I've been there game in and game out suffering along with the rest of the true fans--THAT is what is public and demonstrable about my support for SMU, and I do not owe you or SMU itself any apologies for using this board to vent my frustration. And no, I cannot find reason to cheer when the fourth string running back goes for six because the other team has its sixth-string defense in when its 44-0 in the third quarter, unlike you.

This is a sports forum. Do us all a favor sunshine and go find a "students, here and gone" board to post your ill-conceived drivel on because your holier-than-thou attitude might just play over there.

Is someone putting together some kind of protest or rally? Or are we going to bring down the leadership and erect a towering beacon of athletic prowess just by griping on the fan BBS?

I really do want to know what my options are here.

Sorry to get so off topic here folks, but speaking of Corey Slater, I was driving from Lake Powell in Utah (where I was on vacation) to Las Vegas and happened to pass right by the Dixie State College campus. Not too exciting I guess, but it was interesting to see where our #2 QB recently played.
GO MUSTANGS!

NCAA 2007 already settled this issue. Willis is the starter, there is no controversy.

Yes, and lets hope he's as good in real life... if it's in the game it's in the game, right? ... Or is that just a one way street?

anyhow

It's good thing this thread has started to get on track, it had been looking like it was two shots of tequila away from thread deletion.
