Nice blog entry... my hatred for the Horns kept me from sending in my application to UT. Now I live in Austin, and it gets watered down every day... I know the actual lyric is different, but for the first six months I lived here, I kept hearing this in my head:

"The eyes of Texas are upon you.... Do not think you can escape THEM..."

Seriously, I felt like a fox in the hen house, at every turn burnt orange. Now I actually own 4 burnt orange tee-shirts. :( But none of them actually say, Texas, UT, or have the logo. My favorite (if I can have one) is a Sapporo tee-shirt. If you ever move to Austin, and are a college football fan - Do not think you can escape it.... sometimes I feel like a traitor. But last week I knew I wasn't. I was actually happy to see K State pull the upset. Deep down, it was still there - not fully dead yet.

...........

Go Ponies, let's fill the stadium.

Great, does that mean your paying my portion of the rent next next month? I could really use the extra cash... being dead and all, and what with the prospects of an SMU bowl game.

(You wouldn't believe how long I thought about putting that up there.... deleted, put it back... just knowing you would see that.)

I sent out this e-mail to everyone at my company on Wednesday:

"Hello all:

I have ten (10) extra SMU football tickets for this Saturday's game (11/18/06) at 2:00 PM against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane with SMU becoming bowl eligible with a win.

The tickets are free to anyone on a first come/first served basis, however, please do not take them unless you will use them.

The weather forecast is for 67 degrees and sunny, so it should be a great day for football. Here is the ling for more info: http://smumustangs.cstv.com/sports/m-fo ... meday.html

Please reply if you are interested.

Thanks"

All ten have been spoken for.

SMU should do this a few times each year, but not every game (Tulsa, Houston, Rice, UTEP seem like good opportunities). I know a lot of non-fans who think that this is a great cheap fun day, but they are only up for it once or twice a year. I had five or six replies from people who wanted to go but had plans.

In any case, it's pretty cool that I will be responsible for an additional 10 "butts in the seats" for my massive $15.00 outlay.
