Not that we should ever doubt expony's sources, here is the DMN blog story about it.

No mutiny afoot here. Reggie just has to put things before football and instead of cheating his teammates, he's stepping down. I wish Reggie success in all he does and hope his issues come to a swift resolution.

I second PerunaPower. Best of luck to Reggie. He did give a lot to the program. Reggie emerged when D.D. Lee got hurt, and now it's time for Damon Hurst and others to emerge. Our depth is much better than it was a few years ago. We'll be fine. GO MUSTANGS!

So how will history remember the 6 years that Carrington played MLB for SMU?

If she's not, she should. There would definitely be quicker articles about all things SMU.

Actually this would have been his 6th year...having said that, we will miss him and I wish him all the best in the future.

I hope for Reggie's sake that everything Phil said was valid. But the best news is that he is going to graduate this summer with a degree. Good for him, and I thank him for his dedication to the program.
I would hope that it was not a quitting thing but that the discussion Reggie and Phil had on Wednesday put things in perspective. Life will go on. When a door closes another one opens. LB is one of our deeper positions, so I think we can sustain this. May take some time, but we'll get through it.

Looks like Bennett will have to replace an all-conference LB. Good luck!!
Didn't the LB coach also leave the program this summer?

Obviously, a lot of time wasted on him in spring ball. Somebody else could've gotten some much-needed reps.

Can you copy/pasted verbage on this? Blogs are frozen out here at work, and I can't go home for lunch today.
