I'm pretty sure Paul Rogers has been on the last several committees.

So, you are saying that it is the same search committee for many years? Orsini is relatively new. They have hired a search firm from what I read. Will they have a real say in it? Do you think this committee already has picked their guy? I posted a long comment in the "gary barnett website" thread - probably not the best place for it, but I'm new here!
Do the big money boosters control things here like they do in so many universities?
The money obviously no longer goes to athletics, whomever the boosters are. The money goes to the Cox School of Business and so forth. Where it should, because they have had he most success. I knew it before hand, and the DMN article clarified my thoughts. Read the article for yourself. Two of the search committee members have been on the committee since Hayden Frye? What does this tell you? The search firm is used by damn near everybody, so as to keep things legal. They have no influence. NewPony, Orsini picked his guy when he knew he had the director job.

Huge apology to Stallion. It just can't be. He said that? Good grief, he did. He did say that. Holy Crap. I mean, I knew he stuck his foot in his mouth from time to time. But ouch.
Sorry Stal...my bad. Geez, I can't friggin' believe he said that. I'm stunned. Really am.

I was there, too...albeit as a grade school and junior high student in the seats at the Cotton Bowl...but I remember Hixson, LeVias, etc. very, very well!

From these comments, I am getting the feeling that racism has been an issue at SMU in the past? Would there be an effort to bring in an African American head coach? There are a lot of very qualified African American asst. coaches that do not get the opportunities in college football that they do in the pros.
I am 100% in favor of diversity and breaking cultural and racial stereotypes. I also believe that the best person for the job should be hired - regardless of those factors.
Good post.

The is the beauty (ironic) of using an NTSU girl. My wife never gets jealous.
