Stallion wrote:consider this-if he is getting less than $200,000 per year then his assistants are not getting market salaries either and he couldn't really go after the quality staff North Texas High School.
Exactly-- it's a priority that Orsini use his contacts to help foster a quality list of assistants.
Look, the rumor is correct that we have $1.3M+/- for a "wow" coach. I believe TD will jump at $500K leaving us some serious play money. We take the balance of $ for better offers to the "wow" up & comer "OC" & "DC". Pay the staff market rate, then throw the balance toward bonus $ "incentives" at all the coaches for:
* Wins;
* shut-outs;
* conference championship;
* bowl game;
* recruiting.
You gotta believe that with Willis, Sanders, Givens & FR Robinson, "TD" (I like the ring to that) has the beginning of an "air raid" at the Hilltop.
YOU WANT THE TRUTH? YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!

He's also the only coach we've seen all year who couldn't do it.
Non-candidate.

If the salary restrictions of the assistant coaches is true then Dodge was handicapped. He would be a nice hire here and with his offense would definately put butts in the seats. Like it or not their game against us was fun as hell to watch!

Part of me would love to see us hire Dodge so that when he fails, we can laugh at Stallion, but then he'd blame it on the model and not that his guy failed. But no, I would not go there. The way I see it, Dodge will not succeed in a big way at UNT, due to lack of staff. He will do worse than his predecessor and UNT will fire him in after his 3rd season.

UNT has a nasty habit of screwing high school coaches.
Dennis Parker can attest to that fact.

Orsini told me directly that there's zero chance Todd Dodge will be coming here. Zero.

If Orsini doesn't do better than Dodge, I'll put Shackles on Stallion's back two legs and kiss his rump on the courthouse square (or reasonable facsimile thereof). Quit worrying about Dodge or Superman, Stallion, Orsini will do better. Let's remember this thread.

Stallion could be right about Dodge - but that is a risk we dont need to take with our new coach budget. We cant afford another miss. Permanent doors will close on our program if we dont get it right this time.

Copeland never gave us a chance so I don't think we missed-he was just clueless. This is really the first time we could get it right. What we missed on in the past was on a AD.
Stallion could be right about Dodge - but that is a risk we dont need to take with our new coach budget. We cant afford another miss. Permanent doors will close on our program if we dont get it right this time.
.......................This is the real issue concerning Todd Dodge. Sure, Todd Dodge is a great offensive coach...Impressive no question, and I think Stallion brings up some good points about how Dodge could do more with selling SMU to recruits and its much improved new SMU budget to potentially hire much better defensive coaches. However, though I would like Dodge's choice alot better than a Gregg Davis or a Kragthorpe, you still need to realize he still has never put together a good staff at this level yet and NT is in reality having their worst year in several years at 1-10 with a game to go.....We have to have a PROVEN HEAD COACH at this time. I don't think this program can stand futher failures and continue on.

At least he'll get something at UNT named after him.

Tap the breaks a little regarding Dodge. He was a .500 coach until he hit the lottery and landed the Southlake gig - which had several state titles before he got there. Granted, he took a good thing and kept it going, but I want to see him build something up there in Denton before annointing him king.

You guys who think Justin is no longer a good QB are idiots.
Riley Dodge is the typical HS QB 6' maybe and 160lbs with the steroids. Clown your post are funny. Keep them coming and continue to watch JWill stamp his name in the record books at SMU. Just think what you are saying about the past QB's?
