Absolutely. I don't think 90% of the people on here understand that. A real splash hire would counteract half of the negative consequences of this search, which is fine, but if we're waiting to announce until after a bowl game, Orsini and the new coach have no idea what they are doing. Look at all of the coaches who have left before the bowl game or are at least recruiting for thier new teams and still coaching the bowl game. Every one of them has stated--It's all about recruiting.

We are NOT waiting for someone to finish their bowl game. We are probably waiting for the fallout of UCLA. Scraps from UCLA could be worth the wait. I just hope it is.

I'm sure Orsini has no idea what he's doing since he is a newbie at conducting coaching hires.

"Extremely well put, Stallion"

Oh really?

Ok well you stick with Stallion who has never played a down of college football, never been a captain of a national championship team, never raised millions of dollars for sports programs, who has never worked for any college team or NFL Team, who has never been an athletic director and I'll stick with Steve Orsini who has done all of the above.

Pardon me if I trust Orsini's judgement on these matters more than Stallion's.

Stallion and all the other "back seat drivers" come on here like they know more than Orsini.

Well if they do..... how many football organizations are offering them jobs paying a quarter mil or more a year?

You guys think Orsini is not aware of whats going on....do you really think he got to be a two time Div 1 athletic director because he is clueless?.....Do you think he got to where he is because people like us in the dark about whats really going on....on some college football message board know more than he does?

Hello?.....Reality Check?

Yeah, but he does have over 10,000 posts and has forgotten more about posting than most people around here.

It would be one thing if there was one or two quality candidates to go around and we were fighting against the likes of UCLA or Michigan. But the fact is, there are several top notch candidates available, we are more than likely not fighting with UCLA for a candidate, and there is no need for SMU to squander a whole year's recruiting class. Now, I'll withhold judgment on Orsini completely until he makes this hire, but like several others have said, it really better be a homerun to convince me that we needed to lose out on a year of recruits, which translates to a losing season in about 4 or 5 years. And, to answer your question, I'm still waiting to find out whether the guy knows what he is doing, because to everyone outside the Bubble, Orsini looks like a joke, and I am tired of defending him and my alma mater.

who is everyone?
bigdaddy? biggin?.....others in the dark?
so you guys are going to call Orsini a joke....a bozo
but if this process you are calling him a joke about
lands SMU a great new coach
