What about Joe Kines and the "Bend, don't break" defense he had at UGA and Bama?
Bama's D was strong while he was there.

...except for being a cowboys assistant, no. he's played on great college and pro defenses and worked under some defensive geniuses in Campo, Parcells, Zimmer and now Phillips... guys who wouldn't take a defensive coordinator's job at Louisiana-Monroe.
According to Rivals.com Ed Orgeron is still available.

I would take Orgeron any day of the week as DC. He is a good recruiter, too! Geaux MUSTANGS! Geaux Tigers!
While I completely agree that Orgeron would be a great DC hire, please tell me you are kidding if you think it would be easier to bring high level recruits to SMU than Ole Miss. While I think JJ is going to instantly improve the quality of athletes coming to SMU, Ole Miss is still an SEC school that gets nationally televised rather consistently due to their conference and has had players like Eli Manning and Patrick Willis on their teams recently...AND THEY PLAY IN THE SEC! It is going to take a little time before SMU is going to be able to get SEC level talent. Let me explain something to you. I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me.
I can understand your position Jeffrey. I do think it would be a good hire. I also believe Terry Robiskie would be a pretty good DC as well.
