Just watch. In a couple of years when Owens has a kid who is searching for D-1 offers, he'll get pissy when SMU doesn't return his calls about his player.

In the words of Forest Gump, "S@#t Happens." Move on and find another opportunity.
Those who complain about a problem are simply wasting time they could use to fix it.

Potential is nothing, performance is everything.

Please cc the pony fans with your letter JT.

I think the real message in all of this is that this situation is one more example of SMU finally getting serious about football and playing with the big boys.

He needs to move on, Mike Owens needs to move on, and we need to move on. Period. And Owens, next time one of your kids de-commits to a program, you remember to use some of this big talk right now about how sorry SMU was to this kid for not honoring their commitments or STFU!

So you are equating the decision of an 18 year old kid sometime in the future vs that of a athletic dept full of grown men and women? Hey, I agree that this happens all the time and SMU has every right to give this kid the Heisman. I don't like the fact that his Dad had to call to find out, I do think that was a mistake by the athletic dept not giving the kid a reasonable amount of time to find another place to play. But it is what it is, and it will all blow over soon. Hiccups are common in new regimes, lets hope this is the first and the last.

Sorry Junior, I think I went a little street on you there. Check this link. Oh, and it should have been Warren Sapp.

Oh, I got it. But I am a very sophisticated sarcastic.

Take that as you will, as well.

Again, froggie, it was a joke. Not my fault that wit is often lost when one has to read things online.

It has been stated repeatedly on this board that letters were sent to ALL the recruits stating that the offers mignt not be honored by the new staff. This was done when Bennett was fired. It is the fault of the kid and his HS coach that they didn't have a plan B to fall back on. JJ did what he is being paid $2,000,000 a year to do. Make SMU better. See if Patterson wants to sign Dews now.

I think the article made a good point (that I was not previously aware of) in that PB only had 4 ships to give after honoring all of Cavan's commits. Given the numbers, I'm led to believe that we may even have extra ships at the end of the day (again, just based upon what I've read here), but to not be able to take a JJ recruit because we are honoring a commit from the previous failed regime is definitely not the way to usher in a new attitude and tradition of winning.

I agree with your point in principle, but the converse of that letter is also true--that it might be honored. The mistake here is that nobody placed a follow-up call to let him know it would not be honored. Of course that can't happen until the new coach gets hired, etc.

Having said all that, I stand by my unofficial ponyfans position as it relates to his coach's hissy fit.
