I agree with the sentiment in the context of politicians, not other professions.

The primary reason for not building statues for living is because they may do something in their remaining years that is disgraceful and then what do you do. I am willing to take a chance with Jerry Levias. If he then goes out and let say kills 200,000 or 300,000 people, we can pull it down ala Sadaam.

Even with politicians, there is no larger "statue" then their library, and we build those in life. And if I recall, several things were named for Regan before he passed. I think a battleship and an airport. That was against the normal grain.

People would then know how the race barrier really worked in the old SWC days, making blacks play without a helmet....

There are TWO of Joe Jamail on the UT campus. Only ONE of Bevo and DKR - don't know about Willy. They're all alive (somewhat).

Ford's bust is on display in the stadium. He's still kickin'.

There are dozens of statues of me around the world honoring my exploits. I don't mind.

Since we are having statue talk, shouldn't there be a better Payne Stewart statue on compus??? This has always bothered me...That little statue and exhibit in Heritage Hall is nice, but it is not enough in my opinion. I think a Doak-like statue should be positioned somewhere on campus, preferably near the stadium or Dedman Center...
He was my favorite all time golfer well before I even became an SMU student, and I always felt his tribute should have been greater and more in the open on campus.
Let me explain something to you. I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me.

We were tougher in those days, but I do feel guilty that we only made the minority players go without helmets.

I never take it off. Apparently you have never seen me on the Boulevard.
