There's no rule which says a freshman can't lead a football team. If that were the case, Michael Vick wouldn't have lead VTech to the championship game as a redshirt freshman. Granted, few true freshman start at quarterbacks, but it has happened, and some have been successful. There's no reason why someone like Logan Turner couldn't run the offense as well as Willis.

And I really think the pressure of playing on national tv thing is overrated when you're playing Rice...

I only know what his teammates tell me.

I'm sure if he wants to go play two years at Abilene Christian they'd welcome him with open arms. As for "face of the program," that's a 1-10 program last year, so big deal. And team leader? When's the last time he was that? Some time before he was suspended in the spring I imagine?

Bigdaddy, my prior post did not slight Willis, so try not to take offense. I have stated numerous times I hope he is the starter against Rice. I just have a gut feeling he won't be, and if you saw my gut you'd know it's a pretty big feeling.

Dont confuse individual competition with team performance. The team lost 11 games last season actually. I will define team leader for you. Passing leader, rushing leader and TD leader. He also won an award voted on by the team that showed his willingness to never quit and fight to the end. I know some of you dont like him but some of the comments are just down right wrong.

Other than getting beat out by one of the other QBs, what would be the reason not to start your best player. If he gets beat out that is competition. Best man wins. But for any other reason would be down right wrong for the Juniors and seniors who want to win now.

I take no offense to your comments. I have nothing at stake her. I just respond to what I think is wrong. I think its fun.

If I haven't been clear, and maybe I haven't, that's what I am getting at. I am afraid Jones does not see him as the best man for the job. I think he lost a lot in Jones' eyes not being around for spring ball.

Thank You. His suspension this season had nothing to do with failing any classes. JWill was late for class 3 times and missed study hall 5 times. The third strike was when he missed the running (discipline). Some may have thought it was pretty harsh punishment. It was a wake up call for JWill and a power stroke for JJ. Both handled it well and it is over. The team supports JWills leadership. The best QB plays because JJ likes to win. JJ is no dummy. You throw 25 TD's on a 1-11 team. He knows he wont get that out of the rest of the QB's because we still dont have th talent in enough positions. JJ will use JWill and the other juniors and seniors until his recruits are ready to play. 2 years minimum.

Did you attend the spring game. Well, there wasn't one. For several reasons we all watched a practice. A pretty bad one at that. If JJ was not going to play JWill he would have gotten rid of him wth the suspension. JJ and Jeff George could not get along but he started. JJ and JWill have a good relationship, but the QB coach will make the decision about the starter.

I once ate a bowl of rice while watching 'National Treasure' on TV.

Hey BigDaddy-

Have you been attending Summer School? Your punctuation, syntax and grammar is improving. Welcome back. Justin Willis is the only QB that has the ability to lead this team to a winning season this year. It would be ridiculous to bench our best player. It ain't going to happen. If it does it will be a long long season.

I'm jumping on the jtstang bandwagon...I don't think Willis will start either.

I slowed down on the hard liquor.

10-4. Unless Mitchell has improved drastically from HS. And remember Turner was not even the back up last year.
