What's the fascination with Navy? Is Arkansas set to play in Dallas every year against someone? The Hogs would be a very nice team to play. Florida, Chicago and California have strong alumni bases. Some of those schools (e.g., Illinois, Miami, UCLA, SDSU...) may be interested. UH has a home/home with UCLA coming up. It's nice to have the UNT/TCU games to give one other area game and build up some attendance.

Thank you for finding that info and putting it together. I've found it very difficult to find this on the SMU site.

Navy brings bodies to the game, wherever it is. That's why they always commit to a bowl way before anyone else. I read somewhere that each bowl Navy played in had its biggest attendance the first year Navy played in it.
I will not make age an issue in this campaign. I'm not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience.

I understand that Navy will put butts in the seats but there is zero rivalry or interest. Missouri is another one I don't get. Arkansas would have been alot of fun.

I am shocked LSU does not want a trip to Dallas every other year for recruiting purposes

Navy and Mizzou are 'historic' rivals from the 60's and 40's-50's, respectively.
That said, CASH is the main player in the equation.
Still want the Maroon Cult and the Purple Hoard to take a beating by SMU. They have been and always will be 'traditional' rivals.

They don't need the publicity.

Talked to Orsini at the happy hour in Annapolis and he says we are finalizing a deal with Army after the Navy series ends in 2018

Here's hoping the 2012 game with aTm isn't sold off to Jerry's World. Pre-sell all the seats for Ford and leave 500 seats for the visitors, or play it at the Cotton Bowl for old time's sake.
No to Arlington!

I am still not following strategy to schedule the service academies. Seems to me that since our conference is so weak that we should play all our out of conference games against BCS teams. That way if we start winning we can claim to be legit b/c we didn't just beat a bunch of directional schools. Additionally, since most people have no interest in our in conference opponents it creates more fan interest. Our conference hurts us. It is difficult enough to get an SMU alum to come out and watch a game against a team that they didn't know even played football prior to the breakup of the SWC, let alone recruit non-alums to attend a game.

We are a long way from worrying about our strength of schedule. And regarding fan interest, the service academies have large fan bases all over the country and are a consistently good draw.

Bullcrap-Every Coach wants to run his tractor through the fertile recruiting fields of the Metroplex. When you get your [deleted] handed to you by god awful Arkansas then you need recruits.
