Running the ball twice was fine. It accomplished what was needed and set up a short 3rd down. Had the 3rd down been executed properly, the game was over. It was not and thus the game did not end. That 3rd down play was one of about 8 or 10 that could have changed the game to our favor. These kids have not learned how to win yet and it is going to take something beyond hope and arm chair QBing to get us there.
We played 1/2 at Tulane, 3 Qtrs at UCF, about 55 minutes with Tulsa, and 59 1/2 with Houston. They are getting there. We just need some luck and about 30lbs per man more on the DL.
well said. we're getting better, this is going to take some patience. it's ok to appreciate the fact we're getting better.

Letting a guy throw 40 X a game to not come out throwing on the last series to pick up the first doesn't make sense to me. If we have enough confidence in him to be the focal point of the offense and throw that many times, he should be able to throw a few more and put the ball in the hands of arguably our two best players at the end of the game......Sanders/Robinson to pick a first......your best players are where you want the ball in crunch time anyhow.
Letting U of H get the ball back was not an option with this defense. Under more normal circumstances I can see running the ball in that situation, but not with the possibly the worst defense in the country.
Everyone knew when U of H got the ball back we were done.
Scoring 0 and 3 points in the 4th quarter these last two games is why we lost (I am taking the defense out of the realm of possibilities b/c we are so bad).......no reason to change what we have done for 3 quarters so effectively.

He was intercepted twice. But who's counting?
let me clarify, he was intercepted once until the last play of the game at which point he had another interception but i was a hail mary and not a bad decision on his part

If we had thrown three times and didn't get the first down, they likely would have had at least one of their timeouts left on the final drive. Then everyone here would be complaining that we didn't try to run the clock out. Very easy to be critical after the fact.

Thad....a true classic moment, for sure....love the expressions by Lemmon, especially the brass b*lls look.
That movie was unique in that there were 4 Oscar winners including 3 Best Actors and 1 Best Supporting Actor. (Lemmon and Spacey, of course are multi-winners).
Can you name another movie with the same 'Star Power'????
While I was typing this I (kinda) just came up with another...not bad for someone who didn't need the help of Google.
Thad, I am a quasi movie aficionado

Without looking it up, I'm gonna take a guess with these movies:
How The West Was Won
The Longest Day
The Poseidon Adventure (original)
The Towering Inferno
Earthquake
Mars Attacks!

Good Job MM65....I thought of 'How the West Was Won'...Fonda, Stewart, Gregory Peck and Karl Malden...and to boot Spencer Tracy narrated.
Hmmmm....just looked it up...I forgot that John Wayne was in it plus Walter Brennan, who won 3 Oscars...

Dude... want to reply in full to this, but just was taking a break to check PF.com while cooking up a burger.... get back at ya' tomorrow, or if I am up for it, later tonight.
And kudos to MM65 for his copious list, but that really wasn't the part of your post I was really going to get into. Burger and Dexter time!!!
