Hasn't Stallion told you? Bevo ate my baby.

Seriously, it goes way back. Perhaps, October 30, 1971. Before that, UT was my second favorite team, after SMU, (my dad's alma mater.)

In '70, SMU was smoked by the No. 1 'Horns in Austin, 42-15. The next year in Dallas, the Mustangs weren't given a chance, yet, miraculously, with the final seconds ticking down and UT driving, SMU led, 18-15, (I think.)

As a young sprout selling cokes at the Cotton Bowl with my Boy Scout troop that day, I leaned over from the top of the westside lower bowl concourse (to see underneath the upper deck) as UT lined-up for 4th down and inches from SMU's south endzone goal line.

Quarterback Donnie Wigginton took the snap and was stood up, buddy - smashed - STONEWALLED, I tell you - for no gain. (CAN I GET A WITNESS??)

A ref signaled touchdown ... And that was it. The great, invincible Texas had been given a TD - and a win - it did not deserve against an outmanned, guttier opponent.

I was scarred for life.

There are many more instances. Some other time, guys.

Stallion wrote:Leach obviously deserved it, but I also will say that this was the best Coaching by a Texas Staff perhaps ever. This was a Texas team with a lot of questionmarks in the offensive skill positions-and not a single dominating superstar. Texas defense under Muschamp improved in a single year about as much as any defense ever has. Colt McCoy's development has been phenomenal. In short, there have been 10+ Texas teams with better front-line talent over the years but this is one of the few that played almost flawless football-for 47 out of 48 halfs of football.

Agreed.

There are lots of stories like that - smu and otherwise. Mine involves a lack of pass interference in Austin in 1984 that cost us the cotton bowl. But there is plenty of other reason to hate 'em.

I pull for Texas against every Big 10 team. As for Minnesota, fortunately, I've never been in that position and really don't know what I would do. Maybe a slight lean to the Gophers but don't hold me to it.

But everything runs second banana to SMU.
Nobody will hold you to it because nobody will care.

You cared enough to respond. So there you have it. Have a nice day, southpaw!

Leach is classless. He runs up the score and schedules weak OOC games.

That said, he performed nothing short of a miracle at Tech. Recruiting to Tech is very difficult.

A&M is praying he goes to UW (which he will) and that some lesser talent takes over in Lubbock.

A&M can take losing to Texas and OU as it is the natural order of things. But losing to Tech and Baylor are bullet to the head events.

Tuberville to Tech? Thoughts?

Name the only Division 1A Texas Football Team that HAS NOT beaten the crap out of SMU in the last 10 years

It's statements like this that make me think that Stallion's real identity is Craig James.

Why, because they both tell the truth?

Because anytime they get the chance (and many times, even when a chance has not been given), they decide to kick SMU in the testicles. It's tiring, and old (much like Stallion and Craig James, now that I think of it).

So I was right, it is because they tell the truth....
