Regarding subscription prices, the key is to just let it lapse, they will start calling daily trying to get you back, they finally offered to give it to me for 13 months for a little over $150. It is not your check they need it is all in the number of subscribers they can report.

I sent Mong an e-mail telling him exactly why I was cancelling after reading the paper since I knew how to read and having home delivery for over 10 years. He replied within the hour and said one of his senior customer relations people would be calling - nothing yet and it's been over a week.

I was on easy pay by the month. Basic customer service guy said I could get 25% off $28.50 and a $30 VISA gift card for renewing. No thanks, not enough to keep my business.

That's the lib way. Need more money? Raise taxes/subscription rates. One problem: revenue goes down......

And what would be the conservative way? Layoff employees and cut benefits for those who remain? Oops, that didn't work!

So what's the next step for a conservative business? File for bankruptcy (and stiff the creditors) or beg your elected officials for a bailout?
