It's all about who will take the fullback, the quarterback and the pitch man. If we start to blow our assignments, then they are going to run all over us. I don't know how much run blitzing can impact an option attack but somehow, we have to find a way to disrupt the timing of it.

Haering is an expert at defensing the option. If the D line continues to play well, the linebackers will be in positions to make plays.

Ken will run 5 base plays and Culton has been slowly changing what they do upfront in regards to spilts and inside blocking. In addition to gap responsibility, we need to take away the dive, force the limitations of the option game, and that will force them to sputter.

No, just the ones that make you a hypocrite.

And one whose constant reliance on a potty mouth exhibits a decided lack of debate skills and originality, I should add. But you you roll with that, it matches your age and maturity level.

Potty mouth? Time for recess again?

But hey I guess I could be on a college football fansite when I'm not even a fan of that program. Could be worse I suppose. And being a fan means being angry and upset when things don't go right. Also, I was dead on in my assessment of this team last year. We were the worst team in the country and really didn't show much improvement at all. But that doesn't stop me from "EXPECTING" to see us perform at a higher level and "EXPECTING" to see our coaches and administration doing their jobs. They have shown that this year and you haven't seen that out of me. But again, you're not a fan. Its cool. Just accept that.

I agree, but when you have a qb like Dobbs whose instincts are pretty sound on when to keep, pitch and deliver the dive, it makes it hard to get into his head. We really can't afford to assume anything with this offense. And heck, we still may not be able to stop it.

You don't think I am a fan, and I'll accept that. But I don't care what you think. There are people I have met in person who post on this board, and they are all pretty good people. If any of them thought I was not a fan, it might bother me. But not you.

Then explain this to me. I'm asking you straight up no BS. How in the hell do you not have expectations and call yourself a fan? Do you not think that is the most chicken sh*t emotionless copout?

I don't care who takes the pitch, etc. as I think this game is all about our offense. Offense don't lose the game and please for the love of god score more than 21 points on offense -- after all isn't this the run n shoot coached by an offensive genius ?

Offense has to do its share this week.

with Rickey Dobbs its a little bit more complicated than just who takes the QB-Rickey Dobbs will run at every gap on the field. Usually you think of the option QB with the option to keep or pitch depending on what the DE does. Watch a Navy Game-Dobbs runs behind Center, runs at the guard gap, runs at the tackle gap and then he options to the back or runs around end. Dobbs loves to run the interior of the line which what makes him so hard to defend.

Which is why, I, for the most part advocate crashing down on the QB most every play. If they try to string them out to the sideline it gets dangerous. Make him either cut up the field, or pitch it immediately. That can limit the options somewhat. That might open you up a little for some quick tosses outside, but I would rather take them out of their plan than try to bear them at their game.

ps: jtstang is definitely a fan. Also one of the unfortunate that had to attend homecoming at a soccer game.

Fans have expectations and are emotionally invested in their team's success or failure. It is clear that he does not fit that criteria.

The thing is we have to make third down consistently third and 6. If they keep running off third down with 3 yards to go, we're going to have a long night.
