Yeah. I think we are a training ground for officials trying to get to the SEC.

But the SEC officials are trained to let the favorite win!!

My problem with the holding call on McNeal's run was that the back judge called the hold, from 35 yards down the field. That must have been some hold.

You are wrong to have a problem with that, it's his job. In a 7-man crew, the back judge's assignment on a running play is to observe the block of the tight end.

Of course, SMU usually has no tight end on the field so it makes sense that he was watching a slot receiver.

From Mr. Pony's story about the officiating:

SMU was flagged 13 times for 122 yards. “That’s just not acceptable,” Jones said. “Champions don’t play that way. We don’t make those stupid mistakes.”

These flags are on us and it's up to us to clean it up. The Moore PI was bad. But these are our fault. And as far as the hold on the McNeal run by Sanders, which was away from the play, if it's there, you call it.

A holding infraction that has no impact on the play is ridiculous. You know he might have just been trying to get the guy to turn around so he could say "Did you see that play...sucker." :D
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
