I am sure it is probably more spiritual than this but I have read comments that he has made that have led me to believe there is political positioning going on by he and Orsini to try and get into a BCS conference. He made a remark about one or two weeks ago that gave me that impression. Of course, part of that is having a product to sell.

The MWC is poised to become a permanent member, but it might take their adding Boise and a couple of others and going to a 12 member conference with championship game (to keep them from backing into a national championship game). Boise makes 10. We could realistically be in competition with Fresno and Nevada for the 2 remaining spots if this scenario was to unfold. Would be nice to have a strong SMU program rejoining TCU but we have a LONG ways to go to even get into that discussion. Maybe that is why JJ signed on for a couple more seasons.

Plus half the publicity about Hawaii in the bowl game would be about a legacy June Jones created. So it would be a 3 hour commercial that June Jones turned around 2 programs. I see no negative to this.

IF TCU and SMU had BCS affiliation....that would be very bad news for Ok State, Baylor, Kansas, KSU, A&M and TTech IMO.

Give us BSC membership and I argue SMU becomes the 2nd best program in the state of Texas.

All one has to do is look east to Miami.

I have heard him mentioned BCS Bowl as a goal on many occasions. I would think this would also include National Championship as well although this does not seem very realistic for any mid major unless he knows something we don't. Dream the impossible dream!

This closely matches some rumors I have heard. Here is what I have heard - take it for what it is - a rumor - this is nothing more than a grapevine thing and I personally think there is a less than 5% chance of it happening, but here it is:

MWC has been informed by BCS that they will be given a seat at the table if they expand to 12 and institute a conference championship game at Invesco Field in Denver. MWC's candidates for expansion are as follows (they need to take 3 to get to 12):

Boise State, Fresno State, Nevada, Houston, SMU, Rice.

The thinking is that Boise State is a shoe-in, but some MWC schools (read: BYU) have concerns about BSU's academic reputation. Between the three in Texas, the MWC is likely to take only one. The question then becomes who - UH, SMU, or Rice? Then you have Fresno and Nevada, and there's also a debate on which one would add more over the long run.

The other aspect to this rumor is that BYU and Utah are putting out feelers to the Pac 10 as a backup plan in case the MWC's choice isn't exactly what those two schools want.

Again, just a rumor. Take it for what it's worth and apply a large grain of salt.

Calallen's isnt the only version going around either.'

Anyway, the MWC is worried about academic reputation when it includes as one of its members a California state university school?

[quote="1983 Cotton Bowl"]Until June is willing to share, I'll just operate under the blissful assumption that his secret goal is to be the first non-bcs school to play in the national championship game :)

So in keeping with that assumption, let me just close by saying "GO TEXAS! BEAT NEBRASKA!"[/quote
