For the same amount, we could probably get Mavs season tickets, or scalp decent seats to most of the Cowboys' games this year. This donation increase puts SMU in the price range of the local pro sports teams and, I suppose, most BCS programs. I love my school, but I'm not sure the product is at that level yet.
My friends and relatives who have season tickets are also balking at the increase. I don't know if they're going to renew at the same level yet, but it's definitely drawn a negative reaction.
I fully understand with the current economy that people don't want to re-new, but there is no way SMU tics are even close to Mavs/Cowboys/ any other pro event in Dallas... Once again, all the talk I have heard is that there are a lot of people wanting the good seats and willing to pay....myself included...
Have fun paying $100.00 + a seat to watch a college football game. It just doesn't make sense for this Cox School graduate.

What a mature response... you sure put me in my place. Now I realize I'm totally wrong!

Got my renewal in the mail yesterday. Sending it in today. Don't mind paying the additional money to keep my seats. Cox School grad as well.
When will I start feeling stimulated??

texasscout - sounds like you are trying to make an feeble excuse for not buying football tickets this year - as stated above you can buy 50 yard seats on the east side without a premium

Use to buy my season tickets on the east side of Ownby back in the days. Seats were on the 45, and I loved them, it was all I could afford back then. Nothing wrong with that plan. I just recieved my renewals in Section 205. Will send them in when we return from Spring Break. Since I no longer live in Dallas these will be fine until the kids go off to school and then maybe I can upgrade. Look forward to the day I can attend all home games and a few road games as well. See you all at the Overton on Sept. 5th! By the way the Techies are warming up to Tommy T. out here in West Texas, surprise, surprise, surprise!
PONY UP!!!!
GO MUSTANGS!

If you want west side tickets, pony up. If not, move to the east side (no donation required).
A lot of our fans forget that the east side is home seating, too.

You can call me a crybaby, but our pressbox-side seats weren't exactly on the 50 last year and they weren't cheap, but they were reasonable.
This donation increase is more than just a 10 or 20 percent spike. I would gladly keep my current seats if that's all it was. Some people would gripe if all they did was raise it a dollar - those are the crybabies. But this is a significant leap that, at least in my situation, moves our current seats and parking from the category of a family entertainment expense to a luxury item.
And I appreciate the suggestions to move to east side. That will definitely be considered, along with other factors. The seats we had were a convenient location for us and we enjoyed the people sitting around us, plus being close to friends and family. That has a lot to do with our enjoyment of the games, moreso than being closer to the 50 yard line.
Sitting on the west side, we never had to worry about staring into the sun or getting burned to a crisp during day games. Or the annoyance that sometimes comes with having to sit near the student section and opposing fans. That all goes into the value of having season tickets and parking, which is why we will try to stay on the west side in one of the lower donation levels.
