Yes I think we've all clearly stated that our support for Cowpoke and Maybell can be bought for about $20,000,000. I think its a fair deal. 20 Million to sell our collective soul is about the market rate. The T.Boone and Madelyn Pickens Athletic Event Center. Hell I'd settle for the Pickens Energy Institute for the Engineering Department

Could we at least start a Ponyfans.com suggestion thread or poll to offer naming sugestions for the geldings or is Cowpoke & Maybell official? Is a date set for this ceremony?

Coaches come and coaches go. The only continuity that carries over year to year are the traditions. Every new coach seems to feel obligated to screw with the uniforms. When it comes to traditions and mascots, I not sure it is proper for the coach or the team to have control over that. I really find it hard to believe that the players, with all the things on their plate to do, are running up to the coach complaining that they want full size horses instead of Peruna...unless at a team meeting it is suggested by the coach that "there may be an option...what do you think?"

Yes I am damn glad we are getting a better team and going to bowl games, but the Pony Express teams didn't seem to have any problems winning without full size horses on the field...so what's different now? It is about how good your team is not what your mascot is or looks like. Geez, if that were not the case, TCU would never win a game.

It's going to be Liberty and Justice. The school wants to make it unpatriotic to support tradition.

VarsityShop in case you didn't know, June Sheldon Jones and the football players don't get to select the school traditions. The students do.

Also, what PK said.

He got to change the name/ logo/ colors at Hawaii and figures why not here. Special thanks to the geniuses for reminding us morons that appeasing Ms. Pickens could maybe lead to a donation. Agree with Stallion that I could easily switch on this one but I thought the general practice was to see the money before you start trickin'.

I love that the team is winning and I love Peruna. Not sure why you have to give up one to have the other but get that they're ostensibly an "add on" and do think it's a good cause. ANY and EVERY alum should be pissed though about the Culwell snub which is really the major thing that bothers me about it. I've spoken to players who like Peruna, players who like the new horses, and players who could give a crap. Traditions are mostly for the fans.

Yep.

Some on here said that you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I propose to you that the school looked a gift horse in the mouth the second that June Jones went to Pickens and asked for the horses (and he did go to her, not the other way around - see the interview she gave on Channel 5 last year).

Further, the student senate voted 32-3 in favor of Peruna being the ONLY mascot on the field, and the school turned a blind eye on that.

In essence, the school is saying: We don't care about the students, and we don't care about the long-time givers, so long as we can secure a relationship with a rich family.

Because the Holy Roman Empire was neither holy, nor Roman, nor an empire.

I suggest Obama and Bush. Those two names would guarantee to anger at least 110% of any population group.

Which is a bad sign for her education, because the HRE has a strong argument for claiming to be Holy, Roman, and an Empire.

Mabey the students vote could count, if they had the polling booths at Ford Stadium, during a game.

Yeah lets all live in fantasy land and pretend the students support the program when Peruna is the only horse on the field....they don't show up for games....they stay on the Blvd....or they leave at half-time...who gives a rats-azz what they vote for or prefer for a gameday when they dont show up anyway?....if all those voting students agreed to get their sorry azzes into gameday seats....then yeah...we can chunk the new horses....(thats a bet I'd love to take up with all of you quoting the students vote...we all know who'd win that bet)...until then i say we let the players and June Jones have the full size horses next to our mascot Peruna.
