Funny, my wife(who is also an MB'er from that era) and I had a conversation about when the band first started doing the chant and how much she dislikes it. I told her that it is one of the few things about Mustang Band that I thought was completely out of place. Glad to know that I wasn't the only one.
Obviously, many bandsmen/women from that lean era think alike, and have an interesting perspective on traditions.
Yeah, I was a '92 guy, so not too far after football came back. I can remember them teaching this chant to us and going "huh?" Of course, I was a good freshman and went along but I have never been a fan of it.

The band alums DO buy tickets. That's probably 1/4 of the season ticket base - band alums.

There are no keyboards in the Mustang Band.

since we're on band talk, and we're playing Tech, I'd like to once again point out that the Tech band stole its name from LSU's band, which IMO along with Notre Dame and Tennessee are the best college bands (of those I've seen firsthand). The Golden Band from Tigerland/The Goin' Band from Raiderland. Cute.
Anyway, I hope the Mustang Band has 8 tubas/basses. 10% of the band needs to be the big boys. See LSU with their 32 tubas.
Go Ponies.
And to think, Stallion's somewhere in the caribbean missing out on a chance to say "this one time, at band camp.."
