Daryl Fields, a freshman, is another back you should know about. He returns kicks for now, sprinkled in with a few rushes. Down the road, this kid is going to be a game changer. (4.3 ypc)

Finally, senior Chris Butler has started to get a few touches. He can be dangerous in the open field.

Thanks for football related responses including this one. Was hoping to have at least some football discussion here but even that got sidetracked by TexKev.

What's the size and speed on Fields? Thanks in advance.

I'm glad you didn't lose this in all the shuffle going on above.

6'2 200+ , 4.45 - 4.50

He was a track guy, but I can't remember his stats last year in Oklahoma.

I believe he won the 200 and 400 state championship last year. Bottom line: kid's fast.

Wow, even their own schoolmates hate 'em. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum are sure making the TCU fandom look stupid and are giving our TCU regulars a bad name.

Probably used more as KR than RB this game. I'd like to see JJ use him more for the home run threat he brings, but he's not ready in pass protection yet.

Which is kind of a dead giveaway when he's in the backfield.

Well, who knows if he even went to TCU? Hopefully you guys and gals recognize the difference between us regulars versus the guy who shows up during game week just to get you all fired up.

I don't see him getting in at RB this game against this TCU pressure unless it gets out of hand one way or the other.

I think Line will play 95% of the plays because he's a good blocker. I can see Butler getting run over, but admittedly I've never focused in on his blocking.

Secret's out! I was under the assumption Patterson was already on here under the handle "TexKev12" anyway.

I bet fields starts and gets the ball a lot until he misses his first blocking assignment...

I've heard he's up to around 215 now. Ran a 10.6 100 in high school. Great breakaway speed with some decent quickness. Looks to have some trouble getting his pad level down which is understable with a 6'2" freshman (he was killing UAB and then got his thigh bruised pretty badly when running straight up). He's the one who probably would have returned a kickoff for a td against Tech if he hadn't looked back to see who was following him. Very talented...would be nice not to have to use him as a freshman. Might also see Kevin Pope, another true freshman (decent quickness for about 230 lbs). Mike Alstott is a good comparison for Zach Line. A little shiftier than you'd think, halfway decent straightline speed, hits the holes well, defense can't ignore him (averaged something like 5.5 ypc against Tech). Good blocker.

You know, the one thing I notice about Zach Line more than anything.. he's not the fast, but man he runs smart. He's the perfect example of what a running back can do IF he follows his blockers. He's one of the best at reading the blockers in front of him.. honestly, that i've seen. He seems to make the most out of every opportunity he's given..

I wasn't impressed when I heard he was the starter at the beginning of the season.. but understood because of his ability to protect Kyle. But man.. I trust him with the ball and the decisions he makes when he's got it.
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.
