This letter from the Johnson women is hard to believe. She says her daughter is a TCU co-ed and if the daughter is old enough to go to college how could she be so sensitive that a few barbs said to her while entering the SMU tailgate area make her go home. The article said while trying to enter the tailgate so what does that mean. Who has trouble entering the tailgate area. You just walk in. She went to the trouble to go to the game, had a ticket and then just decide to leave. Life is not all peaches and cream so it seems to me her parents should have told her to forget about some words she heard and attend the game.

By the fact the lady also talks about booing TCU players at halftime makes me wonder if they have ever attended a football game either college or highschool. I have been to many games over a 50 year period and most of the time the visiting team will get booed some time along the course of the game. Normally this is done by a student body and not parents. This letter should never have been printed by the DMN and why was the picture of the SMU student body waving a SMU flag posted under the article. Another example of the DMN stirring up bad publicity against SMU.

This whole thing is hilarious. Have these people never been to a football game before? The coed is an over-pampered princess who gets a sense of entitlement from her mother. The mother is a know-nothing. Let them attend a game as a visitor at Arkansas or Lubbock and SMU will look like a freakin' tea party. I hope this family never sets foot on the SMU campus again.

I like the comment on DMN that the daughter probably watched the game at a bar with an SMU fratboy; Mom seems naive enough to have fallen for that. Personally, I think the letter is a fake. What mother of a college-age daughter refers to her child as a "coed" rather than a "student"?

This only confirms my suspicion that the majority of the editorial team at the DMN are just itching to keep bashing SMU's football program into the ground, even after 25 years; they and WFAA (Dale Hansen, anyone?) are essentially one and the same.

SMU comes anywhere close to succeeding and instantly "that must not be allowed to happen", so this is their insidious way to try to keep knocking SMU down. Yes, SMU lost the TCU game, but it wasn't a total blowout like they secretly wanted, so they're making sure to draw attention away from that.

Why print something so clearly and obviously fake otherwise?

This is no loss at all for SMU. She states that they have lived in Dallas for 25 years and that this was there first game at SMU. If they had been elated with everything you could expect to see them again when TCU plays at Ford or maybe even 25 years later.
