Re: Unrealistic Expectations?Line is a better running back IMOP.
But SM had a great set of hands. When was the last time you saw Line catch the ball and run 50 yards? That's the difference.
Re: Unrealistic Expectations?line is doing a good job. i have nothing against him.
i simply feel that fields gives us a breakaway threat that line doesn't. line may play in the nfl as a fb. that's what he is. he is not a true rb. he does have good numbers. june is very good at getting him the ball when everyone is thinking pass.
Re: Unrealistic Expectations? Why is Line not a true running back? To me he's a classic north/south guy.
Re: Unrealistic Expectations?Would you feel different if Zach Line had darker skin?
Re: Unrealistic Expectations?you have gone too far. wow. that is really uncalled for.
Re: Unrealistic Expectations?
I am already exhausted with this conversation…but…true running back…help me with this one. What is it that a true running back has? Let’s look at height and weight… 5’10†– 6’2â€â€¦Line is 6’1†…210- 240 pounds…Line is 230 pounds. Don’t tell anyone, but for not being a true running back…Line is top rusher in the conference USA…yards and ypc…Let me help you…Line is exactly what is needed in the run and shoot offense.
Re: Unrealistic Expectations?I apologize as that's clearly not what you intended, Nacho. Just trying to understand.
Why is Zach Line not a true running back in your estimation?
Re: Unrealistic Expectations?Line is the man, but Fields can be a spark plug....We need both, no one is putting down line or even saying he shouldn't be the starter....
Look at New Orleans, pierre Thomas can carry the load, but the offense is "x" amount more explosive when Reggie Bush can play...
Re: Unrealistic Expectations?
Love the Thunder and Lightning combo. When was the last time Fields got a carry, Rice? He has been used so sparingly since the UAB game. "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: Unrealistic Expectations?as to debate of which running back should be in there:
blocking for protection of KP is paramount. in that regard, Zach clearly is superior to our other options, at this time. plus, to my eyes, Zach's first step out of the backfield always appears quicker than Fields.
Re: Unrealistic Expectations?I wouldn't mind seeing fields get 3-4 carries...this is no knock on zach line who I think is nasty....
but... watching Fields on the sidelines for navy game, he is a good teammate and high energy guy...
Re: Unrealistic Expectations?i know you are good guy ponyboy without an once of racism in your body. we are just having a friendly chat.
line reminds me of daryl moose johnston. that's not a bad thing. it's a very good thing. does anyone really think line could play rb in the nfl? he may be the blocker we need in the rs but he will never see the field as a rb in the nfl. a rb must be able to run sweeps and catch passes out of the backfield. he must also be able to go up the middle. line is almost purely north south in the traditional fb mode. he rarely gets thrown to. he is an excellent blocker. craig james was not a fb. he was a pure rb. it's like asking what is the difference between a cb and a lb-just a different skill set.
Re: Unrealistic Expectations?Thanks Nacho.
Re: Unrealistic Expectations?I'd like to see us line up in the I just once. Or even the pistol (gasp) with Line offset (where he lines up now) and Fields as a tailback. 1982 all over again. Kind of.
