If Leach had agreed to abide by university policy then he wouldn't have been fired. This ain't the same situation. If Patterson told TCU to go to hell after this incident then it would be. I think June Jones has a pretty agressive attitude about SMU players playing with injuries himself. Coaches should have no role in determining whether injured players play.

all it tells me is that Patterson must have been stressed and pretty damn worried about the outcome at that point in the game to have a reaction like that.

Can I shed some light? GP went Chernobyl on the doc because the doc didn't communicate EW's situation to the offensive staff. EW told GP he was good walking off the field. Several series later GP asked the staff where the heck Wesley was. Wesley then told them the Doc took his helmet. The tirade was never about getting EW back in the game but the lack of communication. Hence the Doc's retraction. Once the Doc explained he felt EW was concussed there was no more thought of putting him in.

This will not end well for the doc. GP has a history of holding out players with minor injuries to protect them. Jason Teague, out top corner is an example. He wanted to go and GP said no.

Choose your truth.

Plus, not to defend Patterson because it was a [deleted] move, but a team doc needs to have thick skin. A coach is under a lot of pressure to win and a lot of money is on the line.

team doc was chief resident in a teaching hospital's emergency department. I'm pretty sure the thickness of his thin is not an issue

everybody in the stadium could see that Wesley was REALLY shaken up on the play. yet, patterson was willing to just accept the kid saying 'i'm fine' while coming off the field at face value and wonder where the heck he was a short time later? yea right, that sounds odd in itself, but does sound like just Patterson being Patterson.

the dr does not go up to fatterson and give him a report of a player's condition. that is typically given to his position coach by either the dr or trainer and usually by the trainer. the position coach then relays the info to fatterson. to say that the dr did not tell fatterson and therefore fatterson jumped all over him as a result is hogwash.
wasn't this guy knocked out? didn't fatterson see him get knocked out. a concussion is by definition a transient loss of brain function. no player should re enter a game if he has suffered a concussion. in fact he should in most cases not even play the next game. fatterson was completely wrong in what he did. no amount of spin will cover that up.

There is a reason the doc recanted. Hang on to your lie if you want. GP never pressured the doc to let EW play. No confirmation on blacking out. Not relevant because that wasn't the reason for GP going super nova.

The doc clearly said he did not adequately communicate with the coaching staff. The article says as much.. Not like we don't have adequate depth at that position but EW definitely had the hot hand going into that game.

right, GP went super nova because, in his own words, his neurological assessment of the SA's condition was that he was "fine 10 minutes after" the incident.

froglicous, does the TCU athletic department issue talking points to the fans on this stuff? You sound like GP's lawyer or something as if you've deposed the situation.

Not saying it isn't true, but what are you basing this on?

Ding. Ding. Ding.

I don't know why people are avoiding the truth! Coach Patterson was pissed off on the lack of the communication NOT whether Ed Wesley could return or not. It's a valid concern that could have been handled better by both parties.
