I thought he was going to come into the stands. I did not hear what was said but it was not pretty.

edit: I heard what McKnight said. I did not hear was was said to provoke the heated response, thus I will not comment any further than that.

1) When is Mason being fired? Our d sucks.
2) The line seemingly isn't giving Kyle the 7 seconds he need to make a decision so we should probably demand Klemm goes.
3) Kyle is regressing. Fire June.
4) BUS thought it was appropriate to have words with a coach during the middle of a game? Or even directly after?
5) Has anyone looked at McKnight? Who in their right mind would challenge that guy to anything. Have you seen the way he walks from taking a beating in the NFL? Pretty sure he knows more about football and special teams than any of the idiots (self included) who post on this board?
6) was it not McKnight who was taking care of special teams when we were blocking all the punts and field goals and doing great in the return game?

happens at every home game in Baton Rouge. Probably Lubbock too. I'll bet people called out Muschamp yesterday in Austin.

There's just certain lines you dont cross. Period.

What kinds of words were exchanged? It sounds like someone said something pretty inflammatory

The problem yesterday was there were so few people there that the coaches could actually hear what was being said in the stands.

That was Voosen, the long snapper. He's been the long-snapper all this season, and I believe last year as well.

I don't know what BUS said, but it was right as SMU chose to let the clock run out at the end of the first half rather than using their timeouts to make UH snap the ball a couple of times inside their own 5. I know there were plenty of people yelling about that. Fans yell things, it seems like a pretty big stretch to call it having words with the coach.

I do not know BUS personally, but from what I have seen from him on here and at games I seriously doubt he said anything that merited a response of any kind from a coach.

Mcknight gets plenty of credit when things go right, and now he is getting plenty of blame now that things are going wrong. It is part of the job he chose.

Last night our D looked like it had a very poor scheme planned. That falls on the coaches. Our D hasn't been that bad in the past. I think they were also gassed because of the hurry-up offense that UH was running. Our O really needed to have some success and eat up some time on the clock so the D could get a breather.
I am beginning to believe that some of these kids just are not learning or paying attention. The coaches can't go on the field and play for them. We had sufficient talent to win that game but UH just wanted it more. Their backs were to the wall and we weren't hyped enough to combat them.
Just my opinion.

This was a very unfortunate incident. Obviously, there was a lot of frustration at Ford Stadium, so let's keep it in perspective.

To set the record straight. The fan in the stands is a longstanding season ticket holder, a Mustang football letterman and is active in the Mustang Club.

At the time of the incident, the fan had come up to the front row, to talk to some friends and presumably "encourage" some of the players he knew on the team. The fan was telling the team (rather loudly) that they needed to "grow up".

Can't say I disagree with him... But I digress.

I think the fan was distracting the players because one of them walked over and said something to DM. Now, per the terms of your ticket and per the announcement they make at the beginning of every game, disparaging comments to players, coaches or officials is cause for removal from the game. So in that since, the fan had probably crossed the line.

DM turned around and told the fan to shut up and that he wasn't worthy of wearing that shirt (fan was wearing a Mustang Club shirt).

Of course, as an alumni, a Mustang letterman and Mustang Club member, I would have to say the fan is more worthy of wearing the colors than DM, but again, I digress.

The fan shouted back something to the effect that DM might consider redirecting his energies into firing up is players.

As DM turned and walked away, he made a rather offensive remark to the fan.

That was the end of the unfortunate incident.

Also, to be fair....

If anyone is going to blame McKnight for the poor kickoff coverage and punt returns, I think you also have to give him credit for the blocked kicks and scores the team has made off those blocked kicks. I believe, until recently (maybe it's still true) SMU was actually scoring more points off opponents field goals than our opponents were. That's a staggering statistic!!

Also, you also can't blame him for going with Sada over Szymanski, Szymanski has been battling a bum hip flexor, so I imagine they've been saving him for punts, FGs and extra points.

Lastly, Tom Mason is a TERRIFIC defensive coach. These guys have been playing waaaay over their heads since he switched the team to a 3-4. Losing a guy like Sterline Moore, really hurts us.
