Couch I feel a very negative spirit here. Tell me I'm wrong.

Not being negative. Obviously I'm being facetious about Peruna riding in a Bently, but I'm serious when I say that instead of trying to hide this negative stereotype about SMU that ISN'T going away no matter what we do, we should take it, embrace it, modify it slightly, and use it as a gimmick. Make it kind of a joke and capitalize on it.

This is no different than what Jones did in Hawaii by making the team gimmick polynesian warriors. Tribal drummer, tribal font, haka dance, etc.

As far as the death penalty, while we shouldn't run around going "hahaha, we cheated the best!" we could use it for a little notoriety. It's something we have in our past that nobody else does, and a little notoriety and edge goes a long way with the sports demographic - males 18-35.



On a related note, I've always wondered why we don't seem to market our winning soccer team to the huge population of soccer loving hispanics who right now have to drive to Frisco if they want to see professional soccer live.

Only a few (maybe as few as two). Guru of Go is the only one to premiere on ABC. That one came the Saturday before the NC2A tournament.
