TCU to: Cincy- 970 miles UConn- 1722 miles Louisville- 870 miles Pitt - 1255 miles Rutgers - 1560 USF - 1135 miles Syracuse - 1550 miles West Virginia - 1240 miles avg: 1288 miles
MWC: Air Force- 705 miles BYU- 1180 miles New Mexico - 626 miles San Diego - 1330 miles UNLV - 1200 miles Utah - 1220 miles Wyoming - 920 miles avg: 1025 miles
About a 500 mile roundtrip difference. (Granted it's somewhat inaccurate since these are by car and not by plane - which makes at least USF closer - but I think it's still interesting to look at).
Thanks so much for doing this...so really UConn is the biggest difference maker by mileage?.....good info and going to more populated cities has more flights and is more competition, so better pricing. Not as big a deal as once thought. NickSMU17 I know you may have seen both TCU and Northwestern play in person, but in all due respect TCU has a much better defense and would those two schools playing each other would be a mismatch with TCU killing them with their 4-2-5 scheme, which most don't even schedule or coach for and you don't have to go in person to see the difference between these two teams. TCU is a legit defensive powerhouse and the QB has matured into a tough one to beat. I don't like TCU just as most on here, but give credit where credit is due.
Disagree....Fitzgerald is one of best young coaches in country...rivals ranks their recruiting classes almost on top of each other for the past couple of seasons, and Northwestern has produced just as many pros in the past 10 years... Who has TCU played and beat this year that is worth anything??? Please do not give me Utah, b/c they got destroyed by ND, who sucks....

Its NOT about who they played and couldn't play...just watch them....their speed and disciplined attack is unmatched..playing against their scheme is tough for anyone. I guess we will see when TCU plays Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl, a common opponent.

Want to bet it? What do you think the line is going to be in that game?

Sure, sounds like a plan to make it interesting..TCU by 3.5 may be the line my guess. Since Wisconsin beat Northwestern 70-23 this year...I will bet that TCU loses by less than 40 points ..which is better than NW!...lol

Thats not my bet...you just asked what the spread would be and I gave it and you asked would I bet you?....You are arguing about TCU and NW defenses.....since your boys 'tough' D gave up 70 points this year...I say TCU and their 'weak' D gives up less than 40 points difference to the same opponent: Wiscosnsin...seems like a fair bet...u want to make 30 points difference?

C'mon NickSMU17..just kidding, looks like I lost you to the facts...I will bet on the game but your argument goes way south when you realize NW lost by 70-23!...If you think TCU will lose by more than that to Wisconsin you are kidding yourself.....but I will bet when the lines come out...and will bet just to make it interesting. We have to know that if TCU does happens to lose to Wisconsin..... it will be MUCH, MUCH less than 47 points!!! TCU is much better than NW, even though I like NW normally. I like all private schools in major metro area's that play BCS schools.

HB Pony Dad wrote:I find Jesse Palmer's comments on College Football live rather interesting. He is absolutely emphatic that should Oregon and/or Auburn lose next week then Stanford and/or Wisconsin should jump TCU for the NC game. He refers to the "eyeball" test and points out how unimpressive TCU's only AQ win vs. Oregon State really is, and how vulnerable they looked in two of their Non-AQ victories specifically against SMU and San Diego State. Anyway TCU's move to the BE is a good move for them! They are going to need those extra AQ Conference $$$ to pay the additional travel expenses they are going to incur as their average Travel Mileage is now a whopping 1140 miles! Going to need true diehard fans to travel on the road as well. So if aub loses stan should play Oreg? Oreg has exactly 1 top 25 victory Stanford Who has zero top 25 victories PAC 10 sux Our objective still remains the same... JUST WIN BABE! The fallout will be whatever it will be.

Oreg has exactly 1 top 25 victory
Stanford
Who has zero top 25 victories
My thoughts were that Palmer was implying that even a one loss Auburn should stay ahead of TCU, and if Oregon gets Beaver_D, then Wisconsin would be a better match for Auburn in the NC Game. I don't really care who ends up where as long as it is a competitive game. GoRedGoBlue wrote: PAC 10 sux
Unfortunately my USC Trojans suck as well! Did you watch ESPN's C'mon Man segment on the MNF Pregame show last night? They just had to show the two sure TD dropped passes that would have beaten the Frightened Irish! C'mon Man! PONY UP FIGHT ON BEAT UCF

I'm not entirely sure you mean what you think you mean. What I hope you mean is that it is absolutely-freakin' essential to have TCU as an annual rival because the level of excitement on The Boulevard for that one game alone this year was worlds beyond any other experience that has been seen on campus in many, many years. And it must be allowed to continue.
Don't worry. Be Happy. Or not.

I don't know why this is a topic of discussion. I assume both schools intend to continue this series indefinitely. Now, if Baylor wanted to drop us I would understand

I was listening to a local DC sports talk show (the Junkies) and they had the ND basketball coach on talking about the BE, recruiting, coaching in today's environment. At the end they asked him what he thought about TCU joining the conference. He said, football needed them. The BE was formed as a basketball conference and added football later. He said that he thinks the conference will add two more members in the coming years. So, if that's true, UCF, ECU, Memphis, SMU, and UH can keep wiggling their rears for the BE.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
