In other words, we can sell alcohol if we want.
All arguments to the contrary ignore the facts.
You are correct but it is a giant hassle since each person would have to get a Unicard.

As I've said before, it will be a very happy day when I have to actually sit in the seats that appear on my ticket because those are the only seats available.
Apparently you missed the TCU game this year.
Sadly, you are correct. I'm still waiting.
Don't worry. Be Happy. Or not.

The wet/dry vote ended the need for unicards in dallas and u.p. Turner tried to put in a buffer zone around campus and failed. Always seemed hypocritical to me to be against a wet city, then provide alcohol at every single official function I have attended on campus. reeks of a financial incentive with an alcohol supplier. Just like the ones suing the city over the election are alcohol distributors who will lose out on extra income.

I think ultimately Turner won. Again, unless I'm mistaken, even though the wet vote passed the City of UP then passed a measure that will prevent retail alcohol sales within 300 feet of any school and allow SMU as a private school to decide if they want the zone to be 1000 feet. That's two tenths of a mile and would prevent 7-11 on Mockingbird from selling beer and wine and I believe anyone in Snider Plaza.
I will double check all of this to confirm, but I'm 95% sure.

No, people argued that alcohol cannot be sold on the SMU campus. This notion is incorrect.

Per the post at bottom of this article: http://www.parkcitiespeople.com/2010/10 ... hol-sales/But the Alcohol Beverage Code expressly allows cities to adopt regulations regarding sales near: schools, churches, and public hospitals (Tex. Alco. Bev. Code §109.33) Some of the more important facets of that regulation: Generally three hundred (300) feet of a church, public or private school, or public hospital, with a couple of exceptions; one thousand (1,000) feet of a public school if the commissioners court or the governing body receives a request for the board of trustees of a school district under Section 38.007 of the Election Code one thousand (1,000) feet of a private school if the county commissioners court or city council receive a request from the governing body of the private school I believe there are other exceptions for daycare centers and other learning centers. ijs
