As a fan of both schools, proud of their records in many areas, it is bothersome to see that color of campus buildings seems so important! If any of us have to resort to this to play our school up, that says something embarrassing.

To repeat the story when I saw TCU for the first time. My Dad looked at the campus and asked "who [vomited] all over those buildings".

Did your Dad seriously say that?

Cause when we toured TC"U" the guide said "We have Frog's Brick Yellow patented. We're the only school in America who can use it!" And my father whispers to me:

"Well, yeah, who would want to?"

True story. Our Dads got it right.

Good point. Every university worth its salt should have good old "Harvard wannabe" red brick like Baylor and SMU and about 470 other colleges and universities. It really makes you stand out. Just like red and blue as athletic colors.

Those who couldn't get in to SMU are condemned to life in lesser schools, like TCU. Upon the realization that their lives no longer have meaning, those poor saps succumbed to watching that overrated team, if only because it came down to that or admitting they live in Fort Worthless. At least they get to see entertaining teams on the other side of the field, especially when the Little Lizards line up against SMU. If you went to TCU, your career choice list started and ends with "scooper" at Fort Worth(less) Stockyards, which makes the browsing of that PonyFans.com-wannabe site understandable.

am a fan of the TCU rifle team. Collegiate rifle is a co-ed sport. However TCU won the National Championship this year with an all girl squad! And they arent all that bad!

For that money I would expect a campus like SMU...Alma mater of the Texas business and professional elite.

whoa!....their total costs after tuition, books, room/board is at least 5k less than that....ours is closer to 50k now.

Give TCU some credit--they have made a concerted effort to reach across all Ft. Worth to get them to think of the Frogs as their team. Unfortunately, the SMU promotions folks seem to think there's little need to look beyond Northwest Highway.

They are all over...I like going to NU games...small stadium good atmosphere...City does support them esp. when they are winning....

Growing up 1/4 mile from Dallas I had no clue SMU was located in the middle of Dallas.

SMU wants to compare universities in a high school like fashion about "prettier buildings (even though TCU has had more new buildings than SMU has in the last 10 years)/family's opinion", then we can use a high school analogy.

Nerds get beat up by jocks. Happens in life and happens on the field.

And using a metal bat means it's not a sport? Go tell that to the hundreds of thousands that visit Omaha each year and up to millions that watch on TV each year.

Yes SMU held more prestige than TCU 20 years ago. Yes it was not even close and I'll even grant that in the 80's and 90's comparing SMU to TCU was comparing University of Florida to South Florida but TIMES HAVE CHANGED and it's now flipped 180 in the other direction. Unfortunately all you "professionals and elitieists" forget that. Understandable because not a whole lot of the "new generation" cares much about the SMU of today.

Bottom line is SMU has a better Law program and business program, although TCU is rapidly closing in the business school. However TCU is better in every other aspect. It's not close anymore. Revenue streams, new technology, facilities, nationally renowned journalism department, athletic performance, athletes going onto pro sports, coaches and as you all have pointed out even this very message board.

Remember at one time Old Dominion was a nationally feared and respected university as well. Where are they today?
