Jerry Norton, Duane Nutt, Mike Romo, Keylon Kincade (the only offense we had for two years!) Mike Ford (lead the team in team offense 3 years including the year he was benched for 6 games. Lead the US for one year against opponents like Penn State, Florida and Ohio State) Oscar Roan, John Hampton, Val Joe Walker (twice lead in interceptions) Billy Gannon, Chris Bordano, Jerry Ball, Luke Johnson, Anthony Beverly, & Craig Swann

Diego had a very successful career in Australia and New Zealand after playing a few years in MLS. He was the leading goal scorer in the Asian Champions League Tournament in 2008 and in fact scored the goal that sent Adelaide United into the quarter-finals in that tournament. They were the first ever Australian team to do so.

Diego Walsh is one of the best handful of players in SMU history. Great scorer, and one of the best passers in the school has ever produced.

Got a chance to visit with him for a minute at the banquet. He sounded like he would like another chance at MLS, and I can't imagine there isn't a team out there that can use a guy with his talent.

Yes he would like another shot at MLS. I'm not sure why no one has picked him up other than he has had some injury problems the last couple of years and I'm not so sure he has an agent who really has his best interest in mind. Thanks for your kind words.

The only player in the last 20 years that should even be on the Long List is Emanuel Sanders. Sorry, we are taking about All-American types not All WAC, CUSA etc. Standards should not be lowered just to get a few guys who some of you have seen. When we get through with the All-Americans and 3 Time All Conference types then maybe SMU should consider these other guys.

Let them keep going. Eventually they will get to me. Of course I am hoping to get in not as a former player, but as the Chairman of the WDNWHA Committee.

It is a tough job, but someone has to do it and you have been an excellent Chairman.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Then add All-American John Steward (1993 placekicker) to the list.

Alvin Maxson needs to be added to the list (3 time concenus all SWC).

We need to drop non all American, non 3 time all conference guys like Putt Choate from consideration. Naturally Forest Greg cannot be on the list (even though we retired his game jersey). Drop Wes Hopkins, and Chris Bordano. Chris was only All-SWC once (as a soph) and All WAC twice. Guess being all SWC as a Soph doesn't really count since the other two times was in a ‘lesser' conference, eh?

Someone mentioned Ted McLaughlin — definitely.

Junior wrote:Giampaulo Pedroso?

Definitely. Sensational college player, and a long career as a professional.

SMU has had so many great soccer players. The list of those who merit consideration (at least) is lengthy: Schellas Hyndman, Diego Walsh, Giampaulo Pedroso, Larry McPhail, Kevin Grimes, Kamal Khalilian, Bryan Thompson, Ugo Ihemelu, Daniel Hernandez, Alan Prampin, Hank Henry, Kara Lee, Alan Kirkup, Carl Bussey, David Carlson ... it's almost an embarrassment of riches, and I know I'm leaving out some obvious choices, too, but this is who comes to mind. These aren't "good" players and coaches; every one of these candidates was exceptional.
