how does every thread on here end up with a Mitch rant about why he hates Junes Jones?

Well, there were a couple of people, who apparently were in the dark about why I don't have much affinity toward him. They wanted an explanation.

Well, they just got part of it.

I'm not going to apologize for my position toward him. I'm sure it runs counter to the majority on this board. And that's fine. I can live with that.

This year is going to tell us a lot about whether Junes Jones really -- and I mean really -- wants to accomplish something great here or if he's content with mixing in some bowl game appearances along with fattening up his retirement nest egg and running back to Hawaii in the near future.

This rant probably sums it up the best. You get the idea.

Rather have JJ, but they were never playing on the same field that JJ is now...

Thus the reason we needed JJ at the time to ignite change...

but this is a top 2-3 non bcs job now...

another thread gone astray.

Let's worry about this when we get there. I'm not sure we'd have back to back bowls from another coach. (even with loosened restrictions). However, he definitely could do some things differently.

Ok, I will admit I got an email to buy Ticketbowl tickets. I guess I am to naive to truly understand the situation but I feel honored that a bowl, any bowl, would contact me to purchase their tickets because there is a chance the team I support might actually earn the Bowl invitation. See, I have not had this ever happen before in over a quarter of a century so I m still digesting the fact that some bowls consider us, SMU a potential bowl prospect.

It is just a situation I am not accustom to since the early 80s.

And whether we are true contenders or not, or whether it is a purely business speculation or not, I don't care. I just enjoy the attention for a change.

I found my email. It had gone to my spam file. I got a couple of good seats, so if we are in it and you want to go, I have you covered.

I ave to get back to you. If we make it, I will be buying from the SMU allocation (helps with that selling our allocation obligation). Plus I got better seats for the AFB doing it that way last year. But, if all else fails, we sure will go even though you are a bit too cynical for me now a days.

Well I am hoping for Memphis anyway but figure I can sell these for no worse that break even although I doubt that it will be hard to get tickets. I imagine there will be about 40,000 available seats at game time.

What's probably best for SMU is to go to the TicketCity Bowl and hopefully play a name Big 10 team so SMU Coaches can hit the recruiting trail and say that June Jones took SMU to a New Year's Bowl for the first time in 30 years. I'd say there is a very very small chance we go to Hawaii. CUSA is going to protect its interest in CUSA's only New Year's Bowl against a Big 10 team. SMU would sell more tickets to that game than any other CUSA program.

I certainly hope we would sell more tickets than anyone else in CUSA...I really want to believe that, but until I see stronger home support against foes like Tulane, Rice, Northwestern State...I still have concerns about our (lack of) fan support
